Tuned 328D's report here

Was curious how many of us there were with tuned 328d's. Been seeing some threads of people asking for thoughts on tunes, so why not start a thread with everyone who's already done it to help others who are still thinking about it.

2014 328D M-sport
*bought as a CPO with 20k miles
*tuned at 95k miles
*130k current miles

Originally went with Mission Tuning stage 2. Tune went relatively easy, just sent over the car information and several days later the car was ready to hook up to a PC and flash the DME. Was told I could not run a tune with the emissions equipment still intact so I bought the Buzzken Downpipe with mid section and AFE momentum GT intake. Instructions were lacking to say the least on the Buzzken. AFE instructions were great and very easy swap. Was told it shouldn't take more than a couple hours on the down pipe and mid, but 6 hours later it was on. Seemed like a quality piece but the fit and finish wasn't on par with the price tag. I.E. the welds were ok but a good deal of splatter around the area of the welds, also the cuts were definitely hand done cause they were not even. Also Ive moved it around but I got a clunk from the pipe hitting the underside of the car on startup.
Got everything tuned and installed and immediately cel light came on. Called MP and they said try unplugging the SCR module so I did and the light went away. The car felt much better than stock with a big burst of power off the line but was lackluster higher in speed and rpm. Drove it for 20k miles and had multiple issues pop up and lost several mpg " down to 33mpg from 40mpg on the avg". Called the MP and it was blamed on the car fuel pump, since it was high milage and never changed.

Found help on the forum from a member who was very knowledgeable on cars and weeded out the issues with a custom tune. "could not find any issues with the pump or injectors" Also learned the factory emissions equipment is more than capable of sustaining the extra power of a tune. With the new tune the power went from a burst to a much more linear power curve and my mpg are back up to a 40mpg avg with me beating on it.

In retrospect I wish there was more information out several years ago, cause I would have gone with something that would have allowed me to keep my factory components for the future if I were to change my mind. Now that the car is tuned, I absolutely love it! Feels like a completely different car "for the better".

Tuned with Buzzken down/mid pipe and Afe Momentum GT intake. Still has original muffler

Is your tune available to others or should it not be considered an option.

The base for his tune is the KermaTDI tune that was modified by some else (not KermaTDI) for his deletes.

I ran the JR stage 2 tune for 1yr and 2mo, for 21,802mi. I'm now running the KermaTDI tune, but have only had it for 306mi.

Has anyone done any 0-60 time runs ? I have a 2018 model and am very curious to see how much faster the car is actually getting.

I bought my 2015 F31 328d in September with 39k miles... currently at about 45k, with close to 1k running the tune... install was very straightforward and the guys at KermaTDI were easy to work with. Once I had the updated file from them it took about 20 min to actually install on my vehicle... no issues or CELs.

i would highly encourage you guys to do that, or maybe even one of those 0-60 mobile apps just to get a rough idea. I have timed myself doing 0-60 in Sport+ at around 6.8 secs.

If the tune can get it under 6 secs i would probably order it tomorrow and would become the 7th tuned 328D in the US

Got a 6.3s 0-60 on wet asphalt this morning. Spun tires in first and second with cold tires. Feel it could be sub 6sec in the right conditions

Last time I drove that car you had wheelspin in the dry in first and 2nd, so I can't imagine it in the rain, lol.
Curious of a 0-60 estimation in the dry.

It's still not fully off in that mode, until you actually hold DSC off for 5 seconds or so. And then it will still interfere if the car gets too sidways.

It's easy enough. I've only done it about 40 times now...

I can upload an instruction pdf from diag data if you need.
But it's basically that box in the driver's side engine bay, with the T25 torx screws. Undo them until they release from the bottom shell (not all the way out), and then lift cover up.
Ecu will be in there.

I got it out thank you , shipping it as we speak , hopefully will get it back wed or thursday, super excited

Edit:

They have a incredible deal right now if you have a 2018 model, due to the fact that they do not have the OB2 ready for the 2018 yet and you have to send it to them, i got about a 40% discount off retail price.

Very glad i called them instead of ordering online.

So what happened? How is the tune treating you after 6 months?
Installed the Dinantronics Sport tuner ~200 miles ago. So far, it's been enjoyable, definitely notice a bit more pep and quicker throttle response (per the butt dyno). May invest in Kerma after I feel the need for more.
