I have the 340i with the mid-pipe and axle-back, sound insane but I experience some rattle at cold start is it normal? or the mid-pipe section touching the frame bracket or exhaust support

so I've been all the way through this thread, trying to decide if the AWE is for me before the sale is over.
I'm concerned about the lack of an operable valve. Maybe because I'm an old, but I want to be able to drive 7hrs with the fam in the car and not have volume, or drone be an issue. I'm guessing that puts me into an axle back only category if I used your muffler? I do appreciate that your mid-pipe can work with the MPE muffler, but are there any benefits to the mid-pipe besides just eliminating resonators? Change in diameter? Lighter weight? Improved power? I guess if it's constructed from stainless that's better, but doesn't seem worth the effort and expense. Pops and bangs are not my thing, but I'd tune those out anyway. |

While this system is not valved, the Touring Edition axleback can provide similar results as it is equipped with our patented drone-canceling 180 Technology® resonator that allow you to hear well when you are on throttle, but at cruising speeds and low throttle, it's very sophisticated within the cabin. No drone on the highway, so road trips are safe (it's daily-drivable by design) As far as the mid pipe goes the main benefit is improved sound. It is a full 3" in diameter and removes the factory resonator in order to achieve that sound without pancaking anywhere throughout the route. We do offer the mid pipe separately so that those who choose to go with an axleback can always upgrade to the mid pipe later on if need be (and vice versa). Given your explanation, I would proceed with confidence on the Touring Edition Axleback -- especially if you're going to remove the burbles. The tone is one of our favorites. |
