Smile 2016 340i Shooting Flames

I know it's childish, but it's pretty neat when you find out that your car shoots flames. I found out ever since I added the meth kit the car will now shoot flames whenever I let off after a hard pull.

Video of me forcing it to shoot flames, probably not the best for the car to hit it then let off right away, but I wanted to get it on video.

Mod List:
- Wedge Custom E30 + Meth MHD Tune
- AEM V2 Meth Kit w/ Dual ProMeth 500cc Nozzles (BMS Throttlebody Spacer)
- VRSF 4.5" Catless Downpipe
- Remus Axleback
- Dual Resonator Delete

Add me on instagram if you have one, i'd love to get some more B58 content in my feed. SC_B5X

Right. Because overly rich fuel mixtures always blow turbos.

Probably not going to happen, and if it does for whatever reason it's a good excuse to throw on a PS2 or Big Boost kit. I already turned the burble settings back down to soft. I only did it out of curiosity to see if it would shoot flames.

Wasn't too difficult, finished in a day. If you have any questions about my setup or putting one together for yourself let me know, i'd be happy to help and answer any questions.

Sure, worst comes to worst the turbine messes up. Puts it back to stock, takes it to dealer and gets it replaced. Then we do it all over again. We know the risks and we still do it because it's our hobby.

Nope, AEM Controller pictured below. If you decide to go with AEM make sure you get the AEM V2 (30-3305) controller, which requires tapping the TMAP sensor wire for boost output (super easy, see second picture). If you get the one with the internal map sensor you have to find a way to run a boost line.

In a glowing red turbo, ABSOLUTELY. Where you do you think these magically flames are coming from? It's detonating in your exhaust. When it ignites in the turbo, there is a chance of blowing a turbine.

Running meth + catless will always spit flames. It's the nature of meth exiting the engine and exhaust. My car does the same thing, but I'm running a Pure turbo with the BMS meth kit and 100% meth injection.

Any benefits to running 100% compared to 50/50 or 60/40 mixes? I know it is a lot more dangerous.

Also what kind of numbers / dragstrip times do you put down?

Just make sure the tank has the blue BMS safety cap and you're fine. B58 can use some extra fueling so 100% meth is what it really likes! I have also tried a 80/20 mix and that felt the same with great results. No numbers yet, but I was getting tweaked on the dyno by Terry and we noticed my tail pipes were smoking after boosting and getting off the throttle so we shut it down after 3 passes. I gotta remove and exchange the turbo. It did 470whp with only 19 psi with the pure stage 1.... we were going to finish tuning it at 24-25 psi so I'm hoping it does at least 500whp.

Didn't blow out its running fine and strong, but it's just passing oil from the seal under vacuum after a good amount of boost. I need to remove it and have them rebuild it.

Lol, there's no glowing red turbo here. We get you aren't into this. That's fine.

Is this the new burble?! Lol JK

But you guys do realize after a hard run in a 1/4 mile the stock turbo will glow red as EGT’s are pretty high... even on a stock tune. Damage the turbine?! Stock burble tunes could do that but guess what they don’t so why would extra unburnt fuel do it? Most likely the cat will go out eventually unless your catless then no worries.

Wow nice, if you make over 500whp with the Stage 1 I may be tempted to go that route since I don't have the money to put down on PS2 or Big Boost kit right now.

Do you have an instagram? I'd love to follow the build.

The key is where it's igniting. Running rich protects your turbo, but detonation in the manifold/turbo is not good. If it's igniting after the turbo then no harm. The rich mixture going over the turbo actually cools it down and provides some protection. Personally I don't see it being a huge risk since our manifolds are so short.

Have you checked after beating on it for a while? Those things reach 1200F after some heavy use with ease which makes them glow like a cherry pop.

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...ight=red+turbo

Try to convince me that abundant of spurious fuel isn't igniting in that thing.
