He actually cut a hole in that circle headlight port and just used the waterproof grommet that is on the headlight strand. That way it is still waterproof and there is no damage to the lamp assembly. The ballast will be mounted outside of the lamp assembly in the frame work directly under the lamp itself.

Guys, a lot of messages about HIDs here but hard to decifer what was done. Let me ask this to help put into perspective please.

Are we talking about cars that have non-HID and only halogens? If so, can someone give us a ballpark of the total cost to do the Low Beams and High Beams HID? I am asking for a ballpark range, not specific, so anyone with Halogens can determine if its worth the cost. Thank you and when I say total cost, I am referring to parts.... not install.

$300 shipped for both of those kits provided you get them from Underground Euros.

Would you have for day time running lights too, in 6K plus possibly turning light bulbs?

From my experience, HIDs ignite instantaneously. It's just the color is off until they warm up so I don't think that would be an issue. However, I do think HID high beams are way overkill considering you'll already be blinding people putting them in a non-projector low beam.

I would recommend nothing short of this company. HID's, this is what they do, day in and day out, nothing else. Me personally, I use companies that specialize on one thing so I know they are focused on what I need. Tons of cool stuff on the website for complete retrofits to kits. My profession has me working with this type of lamp system on a much larger scale (upwards of 15000 watts) so I understand the entire premise behind it. Components are key here if you want to do it right, and for automotive aftermarket I have found nobody that does it as well as these guys. Either way read about Morimoto on google, you'll see the reviews are tops and they come with a 5 year warranty to boot.....

Have fun.....
You now have my attention on these.

I'm curious, do the F30 328's have a 'headlight out' warning light or anything that would require the 'optional standalone can-bus harness' in the description of these HIDs?

I just fitted this kit for Low Beams/Fogs. Very pleased with the expertise of the staff and the quality of the equipment... and no they do not blind people even tho it is a standard Halogen type reflector..... and in regard to your comment regarding high beams above, whilst they do ignite immediately the intensity does take several second to come up to full power, hence some pros do not recommend them for high beams.

The Retrofit Source has a Bi-Xenon projector which uses a shutter to expose the light for high beam providing instant on (in fact they are on all the time), when high beam is deactivated, the shutter closes. Of course this is a little more complicated than just an HID upgrade.

I do agree that HID in low and high sockets would be overkill.

these actually work nicely for the drl bulbs. i have them installed on my car currently.
This is an alternative option to installing a full HID kit?
