Compilation of N55 Oil Analysis Results/Reports: Post Your Results

I finally decided to collect a sample and do an oil analysis on my 355i. I have done this on several other vehicles in the past, but I was still under CPO warranty until my most recent oil change, so always just paid the $99 to have the dealer do the oil change and had them take care of any warranty claims at the same time.

I did some searching in this section and the Mechanical Maintenance and TSBs section but couldn’t find a thread dedicated to posting oil analysis results for the N55. Hence, this thread is born. I decided to post it here to keep it N55 specific.

For reference, here was some other threads I found with miscellaneous reports posted:
The goal of this thread is for people to post their oil analysis results for the F-Series N55 engine (i.e., from BlackStone or another place). Let’s keep it specific to this platform/engine, and please refrain from going on tangents about rod bearing failure on N55s; plenty of threads on that already recently.

If you have a report, please post relevant details alongside the results, such as:
  1. Year/Model
  2. Mileage on car and on oil, and oil specs (if not shown on report)
  3. Mods/Tune/Fuel/etc (and for how long/how many miles)
  4. Anything else to provide context in interpreting results

I’ll get started:
  1. 2015 335i, ~48,000 miles on car
  2. See report below
  3. FBO+, MHD stage 2+ E20 map running E30 for the duration of the oil interval, tuned for about 10k miles
  4. Driven hard pretty frequently, but car always maintained, brought up to temp first, etc. Bought CPO with 33k miles.

1. 2013 335 RWD, 60,000 miles
2. See report
3. MPPK, FMIC
4. Not a daily. Bought at 46,000. OFHG and valve cover completed at time of purchase. No track yet, only autocross. Ran Liqui-Moly first then went to the Penzoil between 53,879 and 56,735. Will have new report in a few weeks with a little longer interval on the Penzoil.

Here is mine. I'm happy with the report. I'll probably keep this car to 100k miles. I'm currently at 63k.

1. Year/Model 2015 435i
2. Mileage on car and on oil, and oil specs (if not shown on report) FCPEuro BMW Oil Change kit 5/30. Usually change at around 7500 miles.
3. Mods/Tune/Fuel/etc (and for how long/how many miles) BM3 full bolt on stage 2 93
4. Anything else to provide context in interpreting results: Car is driven short stop an go trips in the city mostly. I try to take it on the highway or back roads a few times a month to run it hard.

Here's mine.

2013 335i N55 PWG. 90,xxx miles when the sample was taken. The life of this oil was the first 5k after I bought the car, so the modification status varied wildly during this oil's life. Some of this is stock, some is BM3 stage 1, some is BM3 stage 2.

Bumping this thread about a year later, just did another oil change and OA. This time results are from running liqui moly 5-40 (kit from FCP euro). Last year's results were from dealer oil, which i assume was the BMW 5w-30. Relatively low miles on the oil since i drive only about 3500 miles per year. However, some of that is very hard driving, autox, etc.

Revive old thread with my latest report. Was really interested in what this report was going to say. I ran two autocross weekends and the TNiA at Daytona during this cycle. Forgot to add my mileage last time, it was in the 63,xxx's.

This thread never really got much traction but i just got another report so figured i would bump it. Another 4,000 miles (that's all i drove last year) on MHD stage 2+ E20 map running E30 fuel. Lots of these were not easy miles. One interesting observation/trend is that LM 5w40 seems to consistently come in slightly below the rated viscosity range. Note that the first oil change on here in 4/25/2021 was from whatever oil the dealer used which was probably BMW 5w30

Going to do 6000 miles as suggested?

I do it every year and i usually drive 5,000 or less per year so i doubt ill get to 6,000. I am not looking to extend OCI. I usually do annual or 5,000, whichever comes first. If i was close to annual i would consider going to 6k, but not more than that.
