Sight of the g series m340i lump?

Looking at the main page the x3 m340i has 360bhp and 370lb torque which is pretty much current 340 mppk figures and expected I would say.

I would assume the m340 will sport this or a slightly updated version then. Lagging a bit with Merc in terms of headline figures for the amg lite but should be very tunable.

Assuming the new m3 will likely be nearer 450 to 500bhp I would hope the new m340 is knocking on 400bhp but we shall see.

BMW have never really chased the high bhp numbers like Audi and MB, so I think the new M340i will have the same B58 engine in the same tune.

It'll still be slower than the 335d!

Autocar has an article, 360bhp for the M340i, with M3 getting 493bhp.

When will the G20 arrive? Some sites say late 2018 and some say 2019?!

I'm hoping the former! But in the past, it has taken years to get all of the engine options out!

Some strange things going on with power in the next generation.
I was having dinner with someone who knows about the next gen and heard the next big diesels are not going to be any more powerful in the 3 series. :s
Looks like the gearboxes and lighter weights are going to be used to make up for the power.

I would guess the next 3 series 335d will get the same 320bhp 680Nm power plant as fitted currently to the 740d. But who knows.

Still no mention of a 535d yet either for the G30.

It's a new engine in the 7 though right? It's got the B57 diesel where the F30 runs the 9 year old N57.

The new G30 will get the B57.

Not really sure on the difference between them, but BMW were rumoured to be making a quad turbo with the B57.

The details for the 540d xdrive were released last month!
Uses the same spec engine as above.
0-62 quoted as 4.7 (4.9 for the touring)
