Any F34 running on 310M wheels from X3/X4?
Hi everyone. I'm a new '15 F34 owner and I am looking at using my stock 400M wheels / tires for winter. I'm overall pretty happy with the GT, but the square wheel setup is not very sporty.
I likely won't do anything with wheels until next spring. I've been browsing lots of forum threads, sites, etc. looking at everyone's F34 setups. I really like a lot of what I see. Though I live in Michigan and keeping to 18" diameter would be ideal, more importantly I want to stick with a setup that maximizes rear tire width (purely aesthetic) and with an offset that would work with everyday camber at stock or slightly lowered ride height. I say purely aesthetic b/c until I run out of warranty and add power, or start running laps, the purpose will be to look sportier and lower my mpg. So, in browsing around, I found an interesting OE offering that 1 site suggested might fit but I've seen no pictures: BMW 310M 20" wheels (for the X3/X4) Front wheels: 20x8.5" ET38 part #: BMW 36116787582 Rear wheels: 20x10" ET51 part #: BMW 36116787583 Tires: On an X3 I've seen: Front: 245/40R20 99Y XL +.7" Diam, +2.6% Rear: 275/35R20 102Y XL +.8" Diam, +3.0% This was an xdrive, so I assume ok with all abs/stability systems? I was thinking to keep closer to stock diameter: Front: 245/35 -.1" or -.4% Rear: 285/30 -.2" or -.7% 20" wheels, even in summer, scare me a bit on Michigan roads. But, these wheels seem to be available and they are interesting to me. I like the ET51 offset in the rear. I think they should tuck well. Other 10" rims with lower offset seem to be very close to the lip at ride height anyway, and if too far inboard, a spacer could be utilized. If anyone has any information or experience or pictures of this setup I'd like to see them. Thanks, PJ Gross |

Thanks for the response. So the taller tire set or my slightly smaller tire set should work, just preference in filling out the wheel well a bit different at stock height.
Would like to know if anyone has fit the 310M wheelset up on an F34, though. The offset is quite a bit more in the rear than other 10" wheels being run. I've seen ET 40 and ET 45s. But, with 275s they can run slightly proud of the body, a look I'm not looking to go. With an ET 51 on a 10", I didn't know if there were any issues on the inboard side, though there seems to be a lot of room in there. -PJ |
