BMW Finance - PCP Extending Mileage

Sorry for the new thread, could find the other.

Who was the last person and how recently to do this. If I can time it right I might be able to get away with a 10k PCP deal and up the mileage again FOC.

Hopefully BMW Finance software guru's are still thrashing an update to their finance package software and have no way of charging yet!

What is the "true" benefit of doing this ?

Does it mean.... at term end there is no penalty or exposure as a result of being over original contracted mileage ?

Surely increased mileage reduces GFV thus are BMW absorbing all the cost as a consequence ?

Don't BMWFS then set your minimum mileage when you change the car to whatever you upped it to (which is why its currently FOC)

Can't see how or why? You've a totally new agreement set up at whichever mileage you've set up via dealer with BMW FS.

I'll likely find out very soon though!

TBH I can't see the cars value being that different with 10k or 15k miles on it. I just means us owners don't need to worry about excess miles, if we do suddenly find our daily commute increased. I wonder if BMW have sussed most PCP'ers don't go full term.

So are you really saying that you have a 4 year PCP with a GFV of say 17k based on 8k miles pa. You phone up and change it to 15k pa, GFV stays the same?

Why on earth would they guarantee the same value for a car that might have done 28k additional miles over the 4 years when you come to hand back?

Definitely no catch? If not, BMW FS must be a load of monkeys...

I upped mine from 10 to 17k no questions however it does state the offer can be withdrawn at any time and doesn't effect the original deal. So technically they could cancel it and charge you excess millage I guess.

Do you mean it can revert back to the original deal at any time, if they withdraw it?

Well if they withdraw it......you've only the original deal left I think? ... .?

If that is indeed the case, it will be pointless increasing it if they'll take it off you anyway.

Imagine doing 80k over 4 years instead of 40k and then just before you go to hand the car back, they pull the deal!

I upped mine from 10k to 25k pa FOC, surely that would make a difference!

That's what I'm thinking. If you sign something that says they accept an increase in mileage you'd think that is the new deal, not that it can be scrapped at any time. I understand they can withdraw for anyone else asking, but not for those that have signed a new agreement.

I have gone for 8k on the new car and currently know i'll be doing between 10-11k. But the excess milage only comes into play if you hand the car back and walk away.

Who does that anyway?

Not really concerned and don't think i'll up it even if I can.

I'm seriously considering changing up to 330d and currently do 16000 miles per annum. I have the quotes etc from coast 2 coast based on this mileage. Should I tell them less and then chance getting it upped for no extra charge? I'll never buy the car the at the end and always change to a new one. So this could save me some cash! 🤔

No they can withdraw it at any time for everyone! You will, in their words, be responsible for the remainder of the contract at the original agreed mileage allowance.

Don't expect to do much more than 15 with current circumstances but safety net is nice
