The GT style doesnt look right IMO. The GT has from what i'm led to beleive has never been popular. Plenty of space & what not. Fair enough with the extra space though for the miniinal customers. Not for me with the 6 series GT. |

I've just got back from a week over on the West Coast with all our walking, climbing and photography gear on board. Room and power to spare.

Holy shit on a stick, Batman! It looks like a 6 series has been butt-fucked by a Skoda Estelle Coupe.
Who ever the rogue designer is at BMW, he should be hunted down and sent to the same place the current Merc designer is..... |

To be fair, that picture isn't of the GT's best angle. It's best angle is from the other side of a closed garage door. I expect to find one on my street as soon as they're released. Currently one neighbour has a 2 series active tourer and another has an X4. Adding this to the mix should nail the trio of BMW uglies.

Last I heard, the 6 was going to be a downsized coupe to take on the 911 and what we now know as the 6 would become the 8.
I also thought that the GTs were going to be pensioned off due to poor sales. Oh well, every day's a school day ... For me, this was what a 6 was all about:

I can see the appeal of the model, albeit not for me.
Not the name though, 6-series has always meant sporty appearance and the 6GC still was plenty swoopy enough to qualify. The 6GT though, it just isn't a 6-series. I guess this may not stop a future sporty 6 though, the oddity of RWD coupe and FWD MPVs both being badged 2xx has set the template for confusion.

Quote from the official release -
“The all-new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo is geared towards discerning customers who place great importance on individuality. It is an eye-catching statement, packaged into a flowing, sculptural design language which gives the car a modern and sporty feel. The raised seating position ensures an imperious brand of driving pleasure, and the luxurious levels of space provide everything you need for a relaxing journey,” says Adrian van Hooydonk, Senior Vice President BMW Group Design. That could so easily apply to us discerning 3GT owners.

I've just got round to having a look at this and it seems to be quite different to the original 5GT and 3GT- it's lower and if you look at it from few different angles actually quite inoffensive and even mildly good looking as big cars go.
It actually looks more like it's aimed straight at the A7 in terms of size, style, practicality. I still hope there will be some kind of 6GC as well though.

Problem is that BMW have called it a GT and the previous GTs have such a negative view that lots have written it off without looking at it properly. It's much better looking than the previous one, and has lost that weird semi people carrier look. Now just looks normal car height to me. I'd maybe look at this over a standard 5 series now. I've no doubt many will disagree and think I'm bonkers, but ETTO and all that.
