They are not stickers. They are just painted deflectors. http://ind-distribution.com/ind/bran...eflectors-1024

Unfortunately, that is way too aggressive and won't fit. Even at 20x8.5 et32, I rubbed a bit on bit bumps. The 9.5 might work well for the rear tho. The offsets on the LM's are stamped on the face of the wheel so he can check for you without taking off the wheels.

At the same time, because of all the aforementioned things, they are much slower at bringing new products and designs to market. As a result, their designs are oftentimes considered classics, which is not necessarily a bad thing. With the explosion of new wheel manufacturers out there, BBS wheels may not be as popular as they once were, but will always remain the gold standard in my eyes.

As for weight, 2 piece forged wheels are usually heavier because of the extra hardware needed to assemble the wheels. It's the same for all the forged wheel manufacturers out there. And a lot of times, they share the same forged face so some wheels have more pad (metal) on the back so that they can accommodate certain offsets and brake kits.

If you want the lightest and strongest wheels out there, get 1 piece forged wheels. But I'm a huge sucker for wheels with lips so I need multi-piece construction. I'm very happy with my 20 BBS LM setup. And they're lighter than my stock 19" 403M wheels by a few pounds so I'm very happy.

Volk and Work are certainly up there.

Just spent 50 hours learning about all of this stuff (TY FORUMS) to order a new set. Read a lot of disparaging remarks towards Rays due to being Asian, vs BBS as the top, European and leader. Yet, people have it in reverse.

- Rays is the industry leader, and has always been since the advent of precision monoblock forging in the 1990s.
- Rays has the largest, SINGLE (one of a kind) 10 000 ton press in the world.
- Rays manufactures A6061-T6 BBS monoblock wheels on the RM8000 for at least 15 yrs. That is why they are heavier (RG-R 19" is 3lbs heavier) + and featuring a more classic design.
- Rays Volks forged monoblock wheels are pressed on the 10 000 ton machine and then precision die-forged. Same as the new BBS F1. Volks- 4500CAD, BBS F1- 10000$ CAD.
- Rays are not TUV certified, rather JWL+R, a standard as high or higher than TUV. Same press produces their F1 Williams wheels.
- Rays Machida press is used for Rays, BBS, and their presses are also used for Vorsteiner/HRE Forged Flow. HRE went to Japan to get its wheels done after the first disastrous domestic attempts (cracking).
- Japanese design software and patterns is used by Rays as well as the other competitors. Usually Japanese press= Japanese software.
- Rays and BBS F1 are the lightest yet structurally dense street aluminium alloy rims on the planet. This test was done in water displacement tests.
- Rays also makes F1 wheels, and supply one team, while rebranding various other F1 teams.

The reason top wheels are made in Japan is because in terms of forging (steels, SG-2 R2 VG-10 SVG kitchen knives, Samurai Swords etc), Japan has the best technology. It is far cheaper to make A6061-T6 rims in Japan than to buy a multimillion USD press, and that is just one item. T series and HM carbon sheets are also made in Japan, and are present in every modern aircraft we fly. There are very few ways to make 18-22lbs 19-20" wheels that can withstand racing requirements (stress and heat), as well as various amounts of lateral, longitudinal or transverse shocks.

It is very true that BBS has a long and illustrious heritage and history, but that is the smaller, pre-18", old multi-block forging techniques. They presently do not own nor can they afford to own the manufacturing of 19+ monoblock, A6061-T6 AL precision die-forging. And if any US company does make anything like that domestically, it does without a 10 000 ton press, yet still using imported Japanese presses.

Rays Japanese production philosophy is value and affordability. Affordable perfection. Vorsteiner and HRE do not register in this racing level pro quality, nor in value: they charge x2 to x3 for similar, less quality wheels. HRE mentioned its Forged Flows lineup is made in Japan to ensure 'quality'; but they and Vorsteiner went to Japan in order to meet TUV certifications in the 18"+ ranges.

Hopefully this entry situates Rays where it deserves, at the very top of the food chain, and not the other way around. Half the price of competitors whose wheels they make, and that is our luck as buyers.

Im not sure if its because Im young or not but I dont find BBS attractive at all. I actually completely dislike their style.

I actually appreciate the high end Japanese styles more.

Here's my new BBS CH-R setup. I'll be lowering the car tomorrow. I'll post some nicer pics once it's lowered.

Thanks for posting, I'm going to get CH-Rs in the spring for my glacier silver 340 and I've been debating titanium vs silver. I've been leaning towards silver and your pics tell me that's the right decision. Looks great, such a clean, classic look. Specs on yours?

Nice. I'm thinking about a square setup, 19x8.5 et32 all around with 255/35/19s. Where did you get the rims?

Too many leases. I bet you'll see more via CPO crowd.

It didn't help that BBS filed for bankruptcy a couple of years ago either.

It looks sick lowered, I'm still hoping I can make the rear fit with a +40 offset and a 275/35 tire. Haha. Haven't sacked up yet

+35 is flush to the fender. +40 will only be a 5mm difference sunk in. You will definitely be fine with a 275 35 in the rear. I'd try 285 with that offset

New alloys for my 320d

Hi,

New to the forum. I am looking to change my current alloys to BBS LM's 19 inch. I don't really know much about changing alloys.

I know that my current alloys bolt size is 5x120 however the alloys ive seen are 5x112 what do i need to do for the alloys (5x112) to fit?

Thanks

Don't buy them. Just get the correct bolt pattern for your car.
