Hi from the UK...
The 328i is rare over here....everyone and his dog has a diesel of some sort I bought my 328i in the fall of 2015 with 55K on the clock Previously the car had only 2 oil services by BMW! Currently at 67K and sounds sweet to me, but with all that rattling from the engine how would you know something was wrong? The 328i is a despised car in the UK |

The sound of the engine at idle is rough at best, but to date this car does everything well, so it's hard to hold it against it for long. [Good gas mileage, Fast (JB4), reliable ect]
75k miles. Still running great, new plugs every 30-35k and flushed/drain+fill all the fluids. Only scare I had was when I put in Denso Plugs recommended by Advanced and Amazon. Do not use these only use OEM or NGK for tune ups. It wasn’t fun putting around /w miss fires waiting for the new plugs to show up. Stage 1 BMS @20K miles, JB4 at 70K miles. I have an extended CPO on this vehicle, but to date only had to change a water pump and thermostat all under factory warranty. 2012 F30 |

25,500 miles - (just under 41,000km)
Second owner. Car was previously lady driven and only during the summer months. N20 is running perfectly so far, however I also do not have any mods on it at the moment. I'm contemplating extending the warranty another year if possible, due to the fact that if I was to blow the motor, it would cost me an absurd amount to replace it (definitely more than the $1500 it would cost to potentially extend the CPO for one more year). If I can get an extension on it, by the time that is up I will have give or take 15 months of payments left - at which point I can choose to mod it, or begin to save for an upgrade just before the finance period is up (340 M-Sport, 435 GC M-Sport and M3/M4 all being possibilities). All in all, after about 6 months of ownership the N20 has been a fantastic motor. Paired with a 6MT I find that it is very responsive yet smooth at the same time. Fuel economy is also a strong suit of the N20 as I am averaging 8.6L/100KM or close to ~29mpg riding on stock run-flat P7s in 85% city conditions. The fuel economy I get is better than any of the other vehicles we have in the family (various Mazda3s and a 2014 CX-5) - which is surprisingly considering that I drive more spirited than anyone else and I also have considerably more hp/tq than the other vehicles.

2012 CPO 1 owner with 35K, Turbo went bad along with Timing chain and guides. Reason was because the internal oil pump failed in the motor 2 times!!! haha Currently waiting on pump number 3 from BMW to install and see if it is fixed or I will be barking up someone's butt! I would not own this car without a warranty. Also BMW scraped the N20 and changed it to a B series motor that has stronger components as too many issues and built weak.

Didn't you say that they never actually replaced the pump in your other thread?

2014 with 40,000 miles rolling on it this week. Dinan Stage 1 tune, AFE CAI. Oil catch can. I drive the hell out of it. We track it quite often Auto X it once a month and when doing that we are dual driving so it gets 12-14 runs a day on her. Not one problem with the Motor so far. Did have a wiring harness issue early one after the Dinan tune was installed.

2013 328i MSport with 24k miles with just a cat back exhaust and the only problems I have had are the steering wheel controls didn't work, fuel tank purge valve was broken, paint chipping and peeling off wheels, passenger seat makes a freaking noise when sat in, and A/C blower. All were fixed under warranty except the seat which they said they tried to fix but it's still making the noise.

2012 328i Sport Line. Just crossed 60k miles and still running strong. Have Geico MBI for coverage to 100k (to which I plan keeping the car up to 100k).
Just performed a spark plug change myself with OEM BMW spark plugs. No issues. Items fixed/replaced under warranty include - Radio replaced twice (displayed "no signal"), oil cooling component, full turbo replacement, squeaky driver side door lubricated several times. The last software update performed by the dealer seemed to fix or improve any issues such as steering wheel vibrations, start/stop issues, and improved the driving modes (sport, sport+).

The only complaint I have is the stock suspension is both good and not so good.
2012 F30 328i (N20) engine. GOOD: I got the opportunity to Drive the car through Europe and un-leashing the car on the autobahn was nice in a straight line. The car seems to want to easily maintain speeds of 140 mph + and it does so well. NOT SO GOOD: The stock suspension, The rear end at high speeds does tend to ride like an old 83 coupe deville at 120+ mph which is purely dependent on road condition. Dont get me wrong. I am not saying its garbage. I am just saying that adding a nice set of coilovers, sway bars and a decent set of wheels to it the car would feel much more stable over highway bumps. |

32k miles here. Had it almost two years.
So far just the normal oil changes have been done to it. My non-nav display is now getting stuck on BMW logo and automatically turning on and off. My next oil interval is less than a thousand miles away so I will be taking it in soon. I will probably hold on to the car until it is paid off in another 3 years and than will go find something else. I will probably be driving it 30-40k without a warranty and will keep my fingers crossed during that time. Cost of owning a luxury brand.

2012 f31 8at from the uk, bought the car 3 months ago at 67,000miles. Full warranty for 3 years and intend to keep it for 3-4 years. Love the car, the history hasnt got any major faults worth mentioning. Pulls strong, not bad mpg until you use the right pedal, but I wouldnt change it, it does everything I need it too! Only small gripe is its a bit quiet!
As its been said before the 328i isnt popular over here, iv only seen 1 320i and 2 335 i's since iv owned it, the 320d and 30d's are everywhere though! |

2013 M Sport 8AT with 46k miles. Bought it 2 years ago with 9k on it. I have MP Exhaust and had BMS stage 1 for a bit, but removed it due to the jerkiness it created. So far the only thing I've had replaced under warranty was the coolant tank due to a small leak. Really debating on extending the warranty. Having a hard time justifying the cost of the BMW warranty extension, but might be worth it if turbo or timing chain issues arise.

2013 320i in UK with 64k on clock I bought it 3 months ago and I don't know of any problems that it had as it was a lease car. The only thing that annoys me is the noise of the engine on start up and idle. The shocks seem like theyneed to be replaced now and the rear discs need replacing. I shall get a decent set of coil overs as planning on keeping car for a while.

Glad to see that the n20 is holding up well for the most part with a few bumps here and there.
As for me, I bought a 2013 328xi last month with 43k mi on the clock which now has 44.5k mi. Took it on a 800 mile road trip last weekend and was surprised that I got over 30mpg cruising at around 70mph. But no issues to report so far. |

2013 328i with 41k miles. Bought it CPO in March 2016 with 35k miles. Just had MAF and intake housing replaced under warranty due to leaking and random stalling. No other drivetrain issues so far.

The N20 is a good engine overall. Good power, quite smooth for a 4 banger and fuel economy is excellent. Its only downside is the noise it makes at idle.
I wonder if adding some additional insulation under the engine cover and on the side of the block closest to the injectors would make a difference. |

I had 42k miles on my 2013 f30 n20. Intake and BMS stage 1. at about 36k turbo blew on road trip back from california. That was miserable, however it was replaced under warranty. Blower motor was making an aweful noise and was also replaced under warranty.
I live in Arizona and in the summer the screen doesn't work because of the heat. Full AC needs to be running in car for at least 10 minutes before it will kick on. It was a great car but for the dollar amount in repairs (that were covered under warranty) scared me enough to trade it in for a new infiniti q50 3.0 twin turbo. |
