Have them also, very good in the rain and awesome in the dry, they are quiet and bumps in the road feel so much better compared to the stock run flats. I have the stock 403 19's. So far i have 6k and they still look pretty new and i always try to go side ways haha

Pardon my reminiscing...I Haven't had SS's, but can attest to PS2's, which my understanding is pretty much the same tire. Two days at VIR in pouring rain and no issues. I pussyfooted it pretty much the whole time. However, the last session I let a friend/instructor drive. He drove balls out with no slippage. Every time I thought we'd definitely be running off they grabbed no problem. His response was "god I love these tires". After some initial "oh sh*ts" mine was "wow, I didn't know they could do this".
Track/rain aside you can't beat them. Extremely predictable and the tread life is pretty good too. FWIW, I'm buying SS's in two weeks. My current RFT's (Conti) are a joke compared to PS2's, which again I think are the same or better. |

could some of you guys comment on the tread life you got out of the PSS? I'm getting them fitted on my car after reading all the rave reviews on how they handle. Of course I know it depends on how you drive - I don't track the car but my driving style is pretty 'spirited'. My stock contis only lasted 17K while I was hoping for atleast ~25K.

I'd like to add another tire to the mix. I ran PSS's for a number of track days. I think 10ish. I will say that PSS's don't seem to like heat. They are great cold, but they got real greasy on me towards the end of sessions.
Fast forward to Dunlop Z2 Star Specs. I threw those on my e36 and did one drenched day at Sebring and another sunny. The Z2's seem to handle the heat much better. In the dry they didn't get greasy and the grip was on-par with the PSS. However, rain was another story. The PSS's handled the rain 10x better. Long story short. PSS's are IMHO a superior street tire as well as a great wet street/track tire. Z2's seem to need more heat than the PSS's, so cold and/or daily driving I don't think you can beat the PSS's. Z2's just don't seem to bite like the PSS if that makes sense. If you track your car and get annoyed by the tires getting greasy and don't mind sacrificing wet traction, I'd give Z2's a shot. Don't take this post wrong. The PSS are a fantastic tire. I'm just offering up another good option for those that are willing to sacrifice some street/wet performance. It's apples and oranges. Though the new Z2's are ~$50 more a tire depending on size. If you don't really care about track performance at the extreme and are sold on Z2's, think hard about saving yourself some money. Side note, the PSS seem to talk a little more at the limits which is nice.

Just to follow up on my original post....
I'm ran the MPSS on my M235, 335, 328d wagon, and S55 AMG this summer. Probably put 40,000 miles on the MPSS between all these cars. I have nothing to report but positive feedback! Not only is the performance exceptional... but they are so incredibly quiet and comfortable! Particularly on the S55 AMG "big boat"... it really transformed the ride, with the ABC suspension it's a great setup. I will never order anything other than MPSS moving forward.. it's worth the premium price!

Just picked up another set of MPSS for my x5.
They're 285/35/21 & 325/30/21 It will be interesting to see how these work on such a big truck. Currently running 20 inch RunFlat snowtires... it should be a vast improvement.

All well and good if you are a city slicker. Out West there are vast expanses of territory with lonely roads where there is no cell phone service whatsoever and even if there is, the nearest tow truck is at least two hours away.

SKU: BIM-SST-F30-328-KIT Your Price: $234.95 For that $$$ I'd get real wheel and a take-off tire w/ some life in it. |

That would be a lot heavier and 4 inches thicker. If I went that route I'd just get another wheel and tire like my other four and go to a 5 wheel rotation schedule.

Keeping the same size, although I do feel the front are too thin at 225/40/R19.
The rear are about all the rolling resistance that I want, so I think they'll be just find out back. Wider tires pick up more nails and use much more gas. I'm looking forward to better grip and less fear that a pothole will bend my rims because of how hard the RFTs are. |

Just got my PSS put on today. Ride is a little better so far. Need to break them in for 200 miles or so, but I like the decision to switch.

Are you guys doing anything special to "break them in"? I've usually taken it easy first 50 miles as they seem really oily/slippery.
