F33 Roof Hinge Cover

Hello all I'm new here and to be honest new to the BMW scene. I've recently just bought a 2015 435i F33 and it's honestly my pride and joy! But I noticed today when I was getting out of the car that one of the roof hinge covers is broken. I'm going to buy a new one and spray it at the cost of £45 (ouch) but I'm just worried that if I leave the hole there will it cause problems such as rain getting in? Any advice would be great. Many thanks [IMG][/IMG]

Had a similar issue 2 weeks ago. Got it sorted out by the dealer - less than SGD150 to resolve with paint.

Took them 30 mins to fix it. Dealer mentioned that common problem.

Hi

SeeleyF33 the same thing has happened to my hinge cover (or whatever it's called).

What parts did you need to get? Was it just the hinge cover (which I think is 54377184048 for the RHS) and did you need any clips?

Did you change it yourself (and where do you start?!) or did you get a dealer to do it (and how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking)?

I've currently got some tape over the hole to protect the innards, given how much rain we've been having.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Simon

New here too. In fact my first post. Sounds like a simple and straightforward repair for the dealer? I have a 2016 F33 with same broken clip/molding on the passenger side/right.

$741. The parts are sold in a full set for either driver side or passenger side. So I had this one clip replaced and I have the remaining trim for that side if I need it in the future.

Hinge Cover

I fixed this exact problem once before. Although I like their cars, BMW brings ripping off the consumer to an art form.

BMW will be happy to sell you primered hinge covers for about $500. These are cheap plastic things that break on occasion. Why they break, I have no idea but when you put the top down and you hear that plastic snap its time to shell out another $500.

Enter AliExpress !!

My latest order:

Vehicle Parts -8 Store
Estimated delivery date: May 24, 2023
OEM; 54377184047 54377184048 For the left / right Hinge Covers of BMW Roof Convertible Trim strip F33 M3 F83 M4 E93
Right, China
US $18.64x1

(This price is not accurate (obviously) it actually cost me $15.00)

Oh yeah, FREE returns if you don't like it.

Anyway, pull the toothpick out from the rear cover or paint it while it is still attached (makes a nice holder for painting this small piece), get some touchup paint and the best small brush money can buy and paint it yourself. If you can find touch up paint in a spray can even better. Will your home made paint job be perfect possibly not but it'll be close. If you are the consumate perfectionist send it to a paint shop.
