Sadly this is just the start of the slippery slope which makes up a BMW's life.
It begins with an M badge, and it ends with 6 exhaust pipes, chrome wheels, a giant 'Cosworth' spoiler, an 8000W subwoofer, bucket seats and neon downlighters. When I come to sell my car at about 6 years old, I'm going to ask the buyer for references, photos of their previous cars, and to swear an affidavit that they do not possess a Halfords loyalty card. |

I don't think 2 badges (1 front, 1 rear) constitute the 'ultimate' offender, but I agree with the comment that the dealer should have sorted before listing for sale. Then again, they probably don't even know that they are non standard

Got to agree, "M" badges mean nothing nowadays, they're plastered all over half the BMW's on the road straight out of the factory. How far do you go to prove that you don't think your 318D is an M3, remove the alloy wheel badges, side badges, repaint the calipers, remove the steering wheel badge, sill plates?? Anyone who could give a damn knows fine well if its a real M car or not and those who don't couldn't care less.

Interesting too that many non M cars actually DO have M parts on them. For example, 435d has M4 Brake Callipers. Then you have the M235i that has the same rear anti-roll bar as many non "M Performance" cars (or even M-Sports). Fact is, the M badge in whatever guise sells cars and if an M340 or M440 were released tomorrow in the same vain as the M135/M140 and M235/M240 - it would sell - simples. Maybe a badge difference is needed between M Division and M Performance :

I had BMW fit a PPK to an F10 520d. It turns out that the kit includes these M Performance sill stickers. Luckily I found out in time and asked them not to add them. If there is one car that doesn't deserve 'M Performance' on it, it's the 520d!

There is an EBII 4 series around my way, debadged apart from he has put on an M badge ((Mperfomance one).
Now fitting actual side skirt bits with Mperformance is okay, it's a genuine part and there is no intention of saying what it is not. Start shoving M badges on the backs and front of cars, then falling in to utter cock territory. Which this 4 series driver falls in to. |

This! Most BMW salesman have no very little knowledge of the products, I asked Riaz about the M Performance Power Kit & he had no idea what I was talking about!

The kit itself I thought looked pretty good but I just think on a less powerful car I'd be very cautious about adding the decals to it. I think it's kind of asking for trouble as I'm sure it would draw chavs like a magnet wanting to have a go and which then could prove to be embarrassing if there isn't in fact much "m performance" under the bonnet. "lmao bro . yah rides writing cheques that it's ass can't cash innit?" |
