I have some squeal when cold as well. It didn't show up right after initial install, but showed up a few rides later. I tried to get anti-squeal on the pistons, but it wasn't easy to reach in there, but I thought I put enough. I didn't put any on the back of the pads due to not knowing where to put it. I contacted Power Stop and they advised putting a liberal amount on the back of the pads.
Decided to take it apart again and since I had used them for a bit, there was an imprint on the back from the pistons and used that as a guide. I put a liberal amount and will see if the squeal comes back. Last edited by sun; 01-19-2017 at 12:20 PM.. |

Latest update. Squeal is gone. I went back and did the Permatex on the back of the pads again. It's cold here and I found that I wasn't letting it dry enough. I used a heat gun this time. After reinstalling I didn't drive until the next day. Moral of the story is that you have to be very diligent about letting the Permatex dry.

Changed to the Power Stop pads over the weekend. I have not experienced any squeal yet , but I did use a liberal amount of grease. My car is also not a DD either, so we'll see how they perform as time goes by.
Is it normal for the tabs from the new pads to not sit flush with the top of the caliper like the oem pads did? Oem Power Stops |
