Time for something a little different (alloy wheel refurb...)
So, the wheels on my X6 M were starting to look a little worse for wear with the usual corrosion etc seen on Diamond cut wheels.
I wanted to try something a little different, I'd already decided I wanted to keep the diamond cut face as opposed to powder coating & lacquering the whole wheel. So went for this (the images are clickable!): Pretty subtle and OEM looking from a distance, but wait - something looks a little different... Wait, what? Lamborghini Satin Bronze inserts with a Diamond cut face, satin lacquer My wife came with me to collect the car and she initially thought it looked a bit orange. My kids still think I'm having a mid-life crisis! Keen to see what the forum thinks |

Nice job... Looks very proffesional.
But it looks like they're dusty after being driven down a dusty farm track for a few miles?

to me they just look like they're coated in brake dust .
not my choice , reading the header I thought you'd gone avant garde and had a flouro orange finish !!! |

As above really…I think if you went for the full alloy in that colour it may have looked different - but for me, it's just looks like the wheel is supposed to be silver and brake dust is on the inner wheels.
As long as you like it…who cares! Armaan |

Terrible in the thumbnails as it looks like rust from discs but in the full size pictures it looks nice as you can see the diamond cut definition much more clearly. Maybe not my choice on a black German car (as in my head it's a Japanese thing) but if you like it then that's all that matters!

So, it's a bit marmite then! I do like to be a little different, so that's a tick. I can also say that the pictures don't quite to it justice. I'm really happy with it which is obviously the main thing.
I'm not sure why I was so surprised by the reaction of my wife & kids - but hey ho... |

I had similar comments when (probably over 15 years ago now) I had some AMG wheels on a Merc redone in gunmetal grey before that sort of finish was a big thing! Loads of people used to say you really need to clean your wheels |
