Just had a look- nicely organised! Must be a nightmare trying to keep of all the permutations!

When I get my springs fitted next week, would you have any demo cars with RS suspension fitted that I may be able to try?

It has become more of a challenge lately! AC Schnitzer Germany have got in a bit of a muddle with the 3 and 4 series exhausts (choice of engine, tailpipe styles and of course SE and M Sport bumpers) so they are not all on the site yet, but in the meantime I do actually know what is possible so can deal with this by phone/email.

Our current demo car has the Sport (non-adjustable) suspension fitted but is at our dealer in Cheshire at the moment and will be on test with a magazine next Friday. However we can take you out in a customer's M3 (owner driving) with the RS kit and show you what it's all about. Also this month's EVO magazine has a test with our M135i fitted with the RS suspension. "Nothing short of genius" was their opinion, and they are VERY fussy about handling.

Just rang Direct Line and good news, provided the work is done by BMW then there is no increase to the policy and no admin charge.
She said if the work wasnt done by BMW ie a 3rd party then it would be a £75 increase to the policy.

ACS must be revelling in BMW's decision to put sub standard suspension on it's cars? Not to mention Audi and Mercedes.

Excellent

So this is definitely a WIN-WIN modification for xDrive cars.

Just spoke to the guys at Bath BMW and they have quoted £518.14 for labour and £242.60 for parts (with Lorcan’s 10% discount). Will have a think about this over the next 24 hours…….

I read that article, which is what got me thinking! I'm hoping that it could turn the car in to more like the Alpina, or even as good as the Ohlins road and track kits have been on the E90's.... something that properly handles, yet retains or improves on ride quality.

Wow really, excellent info ta.

I assume that was just springs and not the full fat bhp/ftlb increase too?

Yes, only springs. I didnt ask about the power upgrade as that's not something I'd do. But based on the above, they seem to be happy if the work was being done by BMW so maybe in the ball park Guy mentioned earlier in the thread.

I can't help wondering if they have made a mistake. Not your problem if you have told them about it, but I wouldn't assume that this is their policy.

In my limited experience, an after-market bhp increase tends to make a policy more expensive than a similarly powered car from the factory. I wouldn't be surprised to see a 320d PPK quote above that for a 335d.

I have to agree. Privilege had to come back to me on this one as initially they said the same. That left me very uneasy as to whether I was covering the right thing. So I gave them details of exactly what the box was, who was fitting it (Chandlers i.e. a BMW dealer and was approved by them) and the estimated power increase. When they did come back to me, they explained that they have a percentage increase chart and mine fell between the 11-20% increase. They also rate on whether manufacturer approved or 3rd party box, the latter being more heavily loaded.

The increase was peanuts really (put figures somewhere in this post - forgotten now but was £50 something) but I do know I'm completely covered.

Ok, I’ve taken the plunge and ordered these springs, they should be delivered to the dealer on Monday. Big thanks to Guy for taking the plunge and trying these out first.

No pressure at all then

Seriously, you'll love them - just transforms the car into what it should have always been. Can't wait for your thoughts
