Just a last question, HFC has nothing to do with white smoke?
I cant remember if white cloud happened before swapping to hfc 🤔 haha
Smoke from the exhaust can be caused by any number of things. For example, a rich mixture can cause smoke from the exhaust as well. Telling the difference is a bit of an art. Smoke from burning oil has a very distinctive smell though. I wish I could tell you how to know the difference, but it's something you just kind learn by experience.

Even normal catalytic converters don't even work until they're up to temperature, so I can't see how having an HFC would make any difference. Given the known issue, I'd say you probably have the same problem as the rest of us.

Dropped off my car at bmw for this.
They do seem aware of turbo line so i hope this goes smoothly.
I was experiencing slightly jerking forward motion while driving. Could this be caused by oil line?
The dealer said this has nothing to do with oil feeding in turbo

Yeah, they send them to everyone with a matching VIN, regardless of whether you've had the repair done, because they don't keep track of repair activity on every BMW sold

It's hard to say, because it appears to be mileage based (around 50k). We're seeing it in ~2013 year model, N20 equipped cars most prevalently, because most cars of this age are in the 50k range. As newer cars come into this mileage range, we may (or may not) see them showing up in dealerships.

This kind of thing is very hard to get an objective, statistical picture of, because the only folks holding the data are BMW. They're loath to release this data, for obvious reasons.

Im happy to say I just got a call back from my dealer saying they replaced the turbo oil line feed and my service advisor was super nice about everything and even put me into a 440i xdrive Msport package.

@whoisthis , How come they changed your belt and belt tensioner? What dealer did you go to? (since Im in Michigan too)

Also had a question for the other members. My warranty runs out 2/28/18, say if my car starts smoking again (as some people stated the oil feed is not the fix all the time, and turbo replacement is needed sometimes). Will bmw still fix my car out of warranty for the same issue?
