NEW RELEASE: Dinan N20 Big Turbo / Stage 4 DINANTRONICS

Name: n20_n55_turbo_Preorder_banner.jpg
Views: 27306
Size: 284.0 KB

Availability: Mechanical Wastegate N20 Turbo and Tune available now. Electronic Wastegate N20 Turbo tune is forthcoming.

Product Page: http://www.dinancars.com/product/D31...ries&mid=1182/

For the racing enthusiast or those just looking for the best, this is the ultimate upgrade to fully maximize the power output of your N20 or MWG N55 engine. The compressor wheel inside the turbocharger is increased in size allowing ~30% greater flow thus enabling additional boost pressures at higher engine speeds while retaining efficiency. These aren't standard rebuilds but rather brand new units with a new stock turbine custom cast and manufactured with an upgraded thrust system to ensure reliable and prolonged life. In order to attain maximum advertised power gains these big turbos will need to be paired with DINANTRONICS Stage 4, as well as Dinan's intercooler to fully regulate the boost increase and deliver a polished product although the exhaust is also recommended.

Benefits of the Dinan Big Turbo for the N20 Engine:
  • No core charge or core return is required.
  • Brand new upgraded turbo that is custom cast and manufactured with an upgraded thrust system.
  • Larger billet compressor/impeller wheel that allows ~30% greater flow over stock which then enables additional boost to be realized while retaining efficiency.
  • Brand new stock turbine.
  • Turbo assembly is compatible with both the mechanical/vacuum wastegate and electronic wastegate vehicles in the case of the N20 engine. This N55 turbo however is only compatible with the mechanical / pneumatic wastegate. See below for the N55 electronic wastegate variant.
  • Peak power:N20: 345 HP @ 5500 RPM and 336 ft-lbs @ 4000 RPM and a max gain of 84 HP @ 6500 RPM and 77 ft-lbs @ 5500 RPM when coupled with other Dinan Performance upgrades.
  • Dinan Installation instructions detail a procedure which is quicker than BMW's turbo replacement procedure saving the end-user money and time at the shop (Applicable to RWD vehicles only).
  • Includes o-rings and gaskets needed for complete installation on a RWD vehicle only. If installing on an xDrive vehicle Dinan P/N D313-0127 (N20 - $109) is required for additional installation hardware.
  • Factory matching new car warranty (4yr/50k).
  • CARB EO # D-176-49. 50 State Emissions legal.

The desire/need for a track inspired monster for everyday street use has never been so real... and we aim to please...

With the release of the new Dinan Big Turbos for the F3x N20 and N55 engines the stage 4 DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner is now becoming available for applicable models. This stage of tune is specifically designed to optimize the top end power that comes inherently with an upgraded turbo. While in stock, and lightly tuned, configurations the engine tends to fall off rather dramatically after 5000-5500 RPM with the big turbo installed the the cars continue to make additional power all the way to red-line. This results in maximum gains of up to 84 HP and 77 lb-ft of torque.

P/N: D440-1631-ST4 - DINANTRONICS Performance Tuner for the F30 328i (ONLY applicable to cars equipped with a mechanical wastegate)

BMW Factory Ratings: 240 HP, 260 lb-ft torque (268 HP, 287 lb-ft Measured)

With DINANTRONICS Tuner, Dinan Exhaust, Dual Intercooler and Big Turbo: 345 HP, 336 lb-ft torque

I love it. What is the ETA for the EWG version of the N20?

Also, will you have a "package" for those that want to bundle stage 4 together? Ie; exhaust, turbo, software, Intercooler, etc as a discounted price?

When do you recommend installing the upgraded fuel pump on the N20?

No definitive ETA but it should be within the next 30 days I would assume. Its just a matter of getting the car in here, installing the turbo and tweaking the tune for that wastegate variant.

There is/will be a power/signature package for the 10% off discount... just haven't had a chance to make them and put them up on the website yet. One step at a time... =)

As far as the fuel pump upgrade goes, we really didn't see a huge need on the N20 but we offered it anyway since it fit and it may be beneficial to someone running someone else's turbo/tune that is more demanding then ours.

Do you need the stage 3 tune + intercooler before going to this stage 4 upgrade?

You can go straight to stage 4 if you like but it would still require the intercooler / big turbo to perform properly. Whatever stage you get you by default have access to all the stages before it.

Will Dinan give "credit" or discount for stage 4 for those who have spent the $1.5k stage 1 and installed the stage 1 tune ?

Yes. You just pay the difference in price between tunes when upgrading.

Hi Dinan (rep),

I have the following queries:

1. There have been some other turbo upgrades (pure turbo, nexon) around for sometime. But the takeup rate has been slow due to concerns with the reliability with the motor. How has Dinan tested this portion? What has Dinan done differently to give us the assurance?

2. I am not in the states, how can I work something out to still have the warranty / protection? Like pay more or limited liability?

1. See response in the main 2 series general forum regarding the stage 4 / turbo. On the phone so don't want to type a lengthy response if I can avoid it.

2. It's a loaded question that really doesn't have a good answer. It would take a local dealership to buy into the program and become a dealer in order to really make the warranty work internationally in your market. Contact t your inside sales rep to explore if any other options are available although it's unlikely.

For point 2, there is an authorized dealer in my country. Not too sure if there is an warranty portion due to the huge difference in prices of the cars here in Singapore.

Would the prices of the parts be cheaper if there wasn't an warranty part of the deal?

I suppose people would get dinan because of the peace of mind...

I already have the Stage 1 Dinatronics on my 428 with Electronics waste gate , Dinan Exhaust.Dinan Shockware. If I add the Big Turbo and Stage 4 and the inter cooler. How much will i Gain in Horsepower and Torque over what I already have ?? Am I gaining enough that I would notice a big difference??

Best Regards

HI

I went to your web site - I haven't seen pricing for the stage 3 or stage 4 tune for the N20. Can you give us an update ?

Is there a stage 3 tune (with intercooler) upgrade available yet ?

My guess is cats will have a bigger influence on this than the turbo itself.

Turbos whine when they spool, they don't growl. And you hear them on the intake side rather than the exhaust side.

I already have Stage 1 on my '15 N20 428i GC, which is my daily driver, never tracked. Will the Stage 4/Big Turbo kit improve throttle response, low and mid range torque, etc, to improve daily street driving? Or does the new kit just focus on top end power more suitable for track use?

would you need the Dinan tune to go with this, or would I see gains just replacing the turbo and applying a remap down the road sometime?
