E-Sys is not a Diagnostic tool, you can use Rheingold for this matter.
BMWAI can also be used.

This is how I was told to do it:

This should do the trick...

* Press the start button once to turn on power (Don't start the engine)
* Press the accelerator down to the floor, as far as it goes and hold for at least 2 min.
* Do not take your foot off and hit start button once to turn off power
* Remove foot from accelerator
* Wait for another 2 minutes (at least)
* Start the engine and drive

Ok. I'll try it later.

I used to use that method for throttle body reset/alignment on my B7 A4..I doubt that resets the transmission adaptation (self learning).

Hahaha, I was just giving my opinion/experience.

You should have told the OP to search because he was asking a question that has apparently been answered many times here, according to you.

I don't think that it works... Just use Rheingold. It's easier

Just curious, what are the benefits of resetting this? I bought my car with 36k miles... is there an upside to this or is it equivalent to peeing on your territory

Sometimes the autobox feels like it's jerk, sluggish to react to throttle input or seems to search for the right gear. Sometimes resetting the adaptation sorts this out.

It is good to do so if the car is second hand to fit your driving shape.
