I'm thinking to buy Continental Sport Contact 3 to replace Pirelli RFT that comes with my 335i
Would it improve comfort and handling?
Can I install CSC3 tire in stock BMW wheel?

I f you are going away from runflats, lots of tire choices.

I would see if Michelin Pilot Sports or Bridgestones come in proper sizes.

I test drove an F30. I took a corner at regular speed and the stability control kicked in. That was the runflats jumping around. Switch to regular tires. That's the first thing I would do.

u r correct : run flats are noisy, harsh and less performing than normal summer tires! changing to normal tires is the first thing u should do when u get your car!

normal tires would fit bmw alloys with no problem at all! tire choice is huge but CSC 3 is an older tire, u should be looking at CSC 5(P), Michelin pilot super sport or Goodyear Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 !

I dunno - after all the talk about changing the tires out that come with these cars, the Pirelli summer RFTs on mine performed quite well when I was in Germany. Even at 120mph+ the car was stable and quiet. And we'll never get to drive like that here in the U.S. so I'm probably going to keep these until they wear out.

I agree... I don't have my 3-series yet, but on my Z4, moving from the RFT's to non-RFT ZR grade summer tires brought a very noticeable improvement in handling, sound, and ride smoothness.

One downside of moving from RFTs is that the TPMS gets confused easily with the softer walls on the normal tires... at least it does on my car. I never had an issue with the sensor with the old RFTs, but I've had false alarm tire pressure warnings with the new tires.

Another downside is that most BMWs don't come with a spare tire if you have RFT's, so moving to normal tires means you won't have a spare if you have a tire issue. Make sure you have an emergency patch kit... which reminds me, I need to get an emergency patch kit too.

I'm curious about the switch to non-RFTs because one would assume that BMW tune the suspension to the firmer sidewall you get on an RFT, but I have heard a lot of people say you get a better, less 'crashy' ride on non-RFTs.

One issue I've heard of, certainly in the UK, is that dealers and even some insurance companies can get a bit funny if you don't stick with RFTs as they are part of the original spec. Not sure how much truth there is in it though.
