- Zero resources and ability to perform comprehensive testing
- Zero liability if something happen as a direct result of their product

is even a bigger puzzle.

Guys, this is not turning your ambi light from orange to blue. This is directly related to safety! Yours and of those around you.
The RBT Tuning GMBH who created XDelete also created the XHP transmission tuner for our cars which alot of people here use and enjoy with no issues. so I would assume they at least have some knowledge of how these cars communicate with the different modules TC and stability control ect. However I have no way to prove or disprove their facilities and ability to test ect. Our phones are more than what they used to be. essentially small computers and alot of people trust apps like MHD to make drastic changes to the engines computer in a similar fashion(connected using a cable from the device to the car. I dont think the delivery of the programming is an issue.
We can only hope.
I don't know them, it is nothing personal. But the no-liability clause certainly doesn't help build confidence.

I am not worried at all about how the software load is delivered to the car module - via phone or not. I am worried about the software itself and how the hardware would cope with it, in the long run.

I love versatility and although I have no real use for RWD, I'd welcome the option. But only if it came from a trustworthy source taking corresponding responsibility. If BMW or ACS offered it as an upgrade - I'd be up for it just to have the versatility.

They aren't implementing their own software for any of the modules in question. It's just modifying existing code, and flashing the changes to the module. It's pretty simple stuff and doesn't require fearmongering. You are clearly a "bmw is always right" consumer so stay that way. Just don't project it on everyone and everything else. If they have the means to edit the code then they assuredly have the means to test it on a physical vehicle. This isn't their first product.

Didn't I just say, literally, that BMW are not always right...?
Must be losing my mind.

Of course if THEY say it is ok, it must be so. It's on TV, right... must be true.

Any idea if this will trigger a reflash code? Warranty is the idea here, say my tranny explodes, they will run a full diag with the mothership. If a reflash indicator/code is present, the could deny my warranty claim.

I'm very interested in this, but I also want to make sure the warranty is still there!

Oh, and to the naysayers, stop. People have choices, but fully informed choices are what people really need. Buy me a RWD F31 and I'll support your FUD.

Soo how can your choice be "fully informed" if you haven't even read their liability and Q&A, where the following is stated:

"Q: Do I lose my factory warranty?
A: In theory, yes. Practically the usage of xDelete is not detectable for BMW testers or any other tool."

Translated - you may not lose it while you don't need it (during normal maintenance checks). You will most certainly loose it if it comes to it and they investigate.

Is there a sky high option for FWD only?

Hoping for the best efficiency in eco mode for about 20 miles.

You effectively void your warranty with almost every aftermarket product on the market. This is typical legal cover for manufacturers.

You don't want to use xdelete, ok that's fine. Then leave the thread. You aren't helping anyone with your posts.

I'll be posting my dragy times for xDrive on, off and sport.

I'm running 11.92 @114mph on the PS2 91 OTS at the moment, I'm hoping RWD would allow me to trap slightly higher.

I've read somewhere that after a certain speed (somewhere above 180kph) xDrive is turned off and sends 100% of the power to the rear wheels, I'm assuming xDelete basically sets that speed to 0 through software to keep it 100% RWD.

Either way, I'm excited to have RWD in the summer! XHP trans flash works great (I went from 4-4.1sec to 3.7-3.8sec 0-60, I've also been able to break into the 11s pretty easily as well with their trans flash, I used to run 12.08-12.2, and now I'm hovering between 11.9 and 12.1.) and since it's basically the same guys, I'm not worried about anything at all, I've read some great reviews from the e-series guys.

I have a F-series 335i xdrive with a manual transmission, used for daily driving in Southern California. Can someone give me a compelling reason to use this software?

Who is their target market? People who live in snowy winters and also want to track their car?

Sorry if this post is stupid, I just don't get it.

That's a unique combo; one that would probably never exist again..
Hold on to it tight.

I guess the appeal of disabling the XDrive mapping is having the ability to break traction and do burn-outs and such, as with a RWD.
I found that it's virtually impossible to lose traction, in any XDrive vehicle... Which is not a flaw but by design..

When the E92 335i was out, I remember some folks had coded out the brake-based eDiff, for the exact reason; to have more control over the vehicle's omnipresent computer intervention, even with the stability control completely disabled.

I still don't endorse it because of the unknowns but I get the logic..

That's interesting. What is the source of that information if I may ask?
My understanding is that (unlike modern Quattros) XDrive is always on, with 60:40 RWD/FWD distribution by default.

It's actually the other way around, old xDrive was 30/70 apparently, and now it's 40/60, if you do alot of launches, you'd actually notice the rear tires wear more than the front.
