I would have to agree with akgambino. RPM doesn't climb that fast in a log unless it's one of two things. Either the clutch is slipping or loss of traction. Is also occurring right where torque is hitting strong. I honestly don't think your loosing traction in 3rd gear at your boost levels.

I feel for ya man. I would be beyond frustrated if I were in your shoes with your situation. If I waste more than $50 fixing something that "didn't need fixing", I'm irritated. I hope you get it figured out. Do you mind sharing how you're sure it's not clutch?

it used to be really bad. all the way through the powerband but it got better with xdi hpfp and spark plugs, coils. when i turn boost by gear down 10 percent it dosnt happen at all.

i reflashed to bm3 stage 2 from my custom tune and it went away for now.

when i first got custom tune it only happened onve and was gone for a month. then came back.

if it was clutch wouldnt it get progressively worse?

Was this issue rectified? I'm chasing exact same issue on my car (S55 6MT) pulls fine on stage 1 tune but stage 2 causes stutter around 3k RPM then pulls hard to redline.

I'm just here to once again let the OP know his clutch is slipping lol

Oh and I'm pretty sure he started a bunch of threads and commented in other clutch slipping threads looking to upgrade his slipping clutch.

That being said, f80 doesn't suffer from the weak clutch in the f30 so would suggest you send logs to ptf for review and comment. Good luck.

What does one look for in the logs when trying to distinguish a slipping clutch? My car is aN55 8Speed auto. Im running a very agressive custom tune on stock ewg turbos with my max psi at 19psi with agressive timing advance. My tuner has custom tuned this flash for e40. Ive been running e40 fuel consistently for a year now, and the car pulls like a freight train, dead even with stock f80 m3s/m4s. However, Ive recently been worried about this slipping clutch issue, and would like to know how it feels. Is it blatantly obvious when it happens? Much appreciated. To op: sorry to thread jack.
Bruh.... you have a 8AT what u worried about a slipping clutch for lol!

OP made a few threads about what is needed to replace/upgrade clutch because... this was all because his clutch was slipping lol

Gentlemen.....Had the same problem and thought it was coils, plugs, bad turbo, or bad motor. Like a few heads above have mentioned, IT WAS THE CLUTCH!! To all my 6spd heads: Check in with your clutch and see how long its been since it got replaced. Mine had almost 80k mi on it and I believe the flywheel was the original one with 113k mi.

I ended up getting the LuK 550i clutch kit with a LuK DMFW. With the ECS clutch pedal bump stop, it grabs super early - perfect in my opinion - and is suuuuper smooth. And while I've been breaking it in for the first 300mi, I've given it some gas here and there and theres no more hesitations on this custom tune I'm in the process of dialing in with Cary Jordan. Speaking of, Cary was the one that clocked that it was the clutch giving me issues based on my logs.
