M-Sport lower left and right grill removal

Anyone know how the lower left and right grills pop out (US Spec with no fog lights) of the M-Sport? Have a bunch of leaves covering the oil coolers behind them.

Looking for a solution to this too. Grills will probably be a pain to remove if removable at all. Any others have alternate methods to removing leaves and other foreign bodies stuck back there?

Seems like we're the only ones who get crap in there. Since there haven't been any replies I'm going to see I I can figure out how they are held in place.

Hey man, the grilles are pretty frustrating to remove but definitely do able. follow this link:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701830

I just did mine this morning. Follow the instructions and make sure you push the smaller middle piece of the tab because that's what's keeping them in line. I was pushing the outer piece and not getting anywhere. Also, I ended up breaking quite a few tabs in the process, but since i was putting the black grilles in i didn't care as much.

I recommend you follow the first half of the DIY there and just remove the screws so you can get behind the grille and then remove your leaves. You don't need to remove the grille and risk breaking any tabs.

That being said...plenty of people are able to remove the grilles without breaking tabs, i just wasn't one of them..YMMV

mcalc55,

Thanks for the DIY. I'm hoping I don't have to take the nose apart to get Ito this space from above. I am trying to pop these out. If it weren't so cold I'd mess with. May need to wait until spring.

Instead of removing the grill I manage to get a thin nozzle for my shop vac that slides between the grill. Much quicker to vacuum it out that trying to take the bumper apart.

Just get some tweezers and take out each leaf one by one... get 2 pencils and use the erasers to pul leaves out..

Move them with pencil eraser and use tweezers to take them off. Get it vacuumed..

so many options lol

Use a vaccuum cleaner with the thin attachment. Sucks right out.

Also, if i remember right, when I was replacing the horn...you can also pull the wheel off and undo the wheel well cover with a few 8mm bolt/screws. Then you can gently tug the cooler back and debris just falls down. (See this youtube video I did...

I wondered how I was going to clean all that crap out when I bought my car.

I have the easiest solution for everyone!

Just use a high powered blower at different angles and it blows these leaves right out. Angle the air from the left, right, top, bottom etc, keep moving the air around and after a minute or so, CLEAN!

I'd also be curious how to remove these. I can't stand the dull black color in contrast with my gloss black kidney grills, so planning to remove them and repaint

If you have access to an air compressor you can blow the leaves off of that, or just take an old rag or sock and put it over a thin vacuum cleaner nozzle and go in and surgically remove the leaves that way.
