WAGNER DP O2 fitment issue!

Just finished up my Wagner DP install and went to go plug in my O2 sensors. The after cat O2 wire is like an inch too short. I know for sure they are installed in the right place. Anyone else run into this problem? Just leaving it unplugged for now so I can drive it.

Any tips would be great!

Wagner got back to me and said this happens roughly 1 every 500 cars. Either stretch the harness from the firewall or splice the O2 sensor

Lol... so basically "deal with it"? Is it 1 in 500 cars are different from the factory or 1 in 500 DPs have an issue?

Doesn't really seem like a solution to me, i would be asking for a full refund or replacement.

Yup pretty much. But it's already in the car. I don't feel like taking it back out and putting the OEM one in. Replacement would probably have the same issue. I saw one other person have this issue on a 135i after searching.

According to their website it is a guaranteed fit. Doesn't seem like that to me and for the price of the catted Wagner it should be. Guess I'll be using a different brand from now on.

You may need to just use the angled O2 spacer like people with VRSF catted use so you can at least plug in the O2. I know its the secondary O2 and not used for fuel trims, but i would probably do that so you can at least plug it in.

In any case that wouldn't sit well with me and although the effort sucks, i would remove and get a refund to buy a different one, especially if you are not going to pass emissions with it.

"stretch the harness"??? And what exactly would that process be? Get a big 'ol handful of harness, place both feet on the chassis and pull 'till it's long enough?

Yeah there's no way I'll buy a spacer. But I agree with you. I'm going to drive it home and drive my beater car for now while I get it figured out with the vendor.

Trace it back to the firewall and see if I can pull some through the firewall. Word for word what Wagner said to me.

Um, what? The O2 harness does not go through the firewall... It plugs in up top, goes through a few clips, then goes straight down to the O2 sensor itself screwed into the DP. Which I'm sure you know as it sounds like you did the install yourself as I did with my DP lol...

Somebody at Wagner was pulling your leg. Call them back and ask them to send you a wire stretcher. Tell them since it's a BMW you need a Metric one.

Seriously, if the harness is not long enough and you don't want to take the down pipe back off, extending the harness is the answer. If it's done properly it won't be a problem.

The fact that the part is guaranteed fitment and it doesn't fit. I wouldn't run one, even if it was for the secondary O2 and would have zero impact on performance. It would be different if you went into it knowing you would need a spacer (e.g., VRSF). I would never do that either though, lol.

I had almost the same issue with Wagner Catted on N55 PWG - the hole for the second o2 sensor isn't made at the right place and it hits the body. I had to make some modifications to my exhaust system and OEM holders. I wouldn't recommend the product or the customer support none the less.

Yeah I forgot to update this thread cause I was so pissed. The vendor was very understanding of the issue. I managed to move the harness the the backside of the valve cover and get it plugged in but it is TIGHT.

I've driven the car over 1000 miles and just got my first CEL yesterday for cat efficiency. If it stays like that I should still be able to pass emissions. I am tuned and could shut off cat efficiency if I want.

Overall can't recommend the product as much as I'd like to.

Um, you can't pass emissions by hiding the CEL. The ready check for the emissions monitors is totally separate from hiding the CEL with a tune. If your state requires all monitors to be in ready state, you will not pass.

Having said that you MIGHT be able to reset everything and drive the car around gently until all monitors are in ready state and then do the emissions test, since it is usually doing hard pulls that triggers the CEL for DPs that arent quite efficient enough.

I understand this and was referring to the latter option. Also I believe PA allows one monitor to be not ready.

Yes Wagner downpipes are known for this issue. I’m sure its more than 1 in 500. Probably more like 1 in 2.

Which car is this for? And is this catted or catless?

This is BMW DIY Guys guide on his F32 435i, and you can see his catted DP at the 15:41 mark; and from what I can tell, it looks fairly similar to yours. He also makes note of the tight fit at around the 24:15 mark, but says it does fit.

That said, I'm not sure who's affected by this and who isn't... I also just received my Wagner catted DP today, and am wondering if I should go through the trouble of finding out.
