Retrofitting ambient lighting in dash (question)

Hello everyone!

I've been thinking of retrofitting an ambient light strip to my F36 dash like the one they have on the F10/11/etc.

I'd like to know whether this has ever been attempted (I've seen it done but with EL strips, not what I want to do) and if anyone has a good idea on how to go about it.

My assumptions are the following:

I think that one of the front door's LED tubes might be the right size.. but I've heard they're almost impossible to remove and that they're extremely brittle and once broken won't shine properly.

The actual tube from the F10 dash might work but I think it's probably going to be too long for the F36's dash and might not have the right circumference angle (bend).

If the previous assumption that they are brittle is correct, I assume bending a tube into shape would be out of the question unless it's made of a material that's sensitive to being (carefully) heated and reshaped.

*I will add pics later to make sure there are no doubts as to what I'm talking about but if anyone could chime in in the meantime I'd appreciate it*

Yes! Looks good, but I'd like to go for a more OEM look.

It's pretty easy.
It has been somehow the first invention pass round in China for quite sometimes now.

I have been doing this in Taiwan for some car enthusiasts for F36

Apparently not as visible as it look on pictures....

Walk through:
Get a cup holder light and cheap transparent light strips. Simple use double sided tape on back of AC
Trim piece.
