Experience with 10.25" android 7.1 HU's

### topic renamed for central collection of info ###

This topic is intended for sharing information, tips, tricks, software questions etc. for the Ugode 10.25" headunit (http://ugode.com/index.php/products_v_34_273.html).
These units were part of the group-buy here:
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1481613
All tips and tricks are welcome, just keep it on-topic please...

To kickstart it a bit: I have an app on my mobile called Auto Wifi Tethering (android) and as soon as my bluetooth is connected, it activates the hotspot of my phone so a headunit can connect.
Works pretty good

Issues list:
#1 (SOLVED) (DRuw) "No signal" screen on android boot up (reported by DRuw) all software versions
#2 (SOLVED) (All) Wifi auto connect to hotspot does not work. solved in latest software release
#3 (Wacky007) During navigation screen suddenly turns to blank screen (reported by wacky007, MrChang, orup)
#4 (All) Poor performance for Google Maps; lags and app crash.
#5 (Mike87) Automatic front camera enable
When you connect front camera in DVR CVBS IN (rca connection cable), the system should change the screen to front camera view when switching to 1st gear right after reverse gear. Also, there should be an idrive button for switching to cameras.
#6 (Mike78) iphone mirroring
scrolling and camera roll video slow performance. I have also tested other high resolution wifi airplay adapter and they had near iphone performance in videos.
#7. (CHP10) the screen behind the cover seems to be bigger which means not the whole screen in visible
#8. (CHP10) when i go to the settings (Android side) the unit always switch to my iphone music (last source e.g. iTunes, TuneIn). Means if i listen to radio (BMW side) and i enter into the setting it is switching to iPhone Music (also BMW side).
#9 (SOLVED) (DRuw) since new software rev. GPS signal freezes about a minute after starting the system.Solved, probably installation error.

Wishlist:
#1 would be great if i can select the icon's which should be displayed. As i don't use DVR and Bluetooth those icon's are useless for em

With rev 20180828, the whitelist of the appkiller has been extended to include more apps to run on the background.

How to remove task killer completely
SPECIAL CREDITS cederron
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!

You need a PC connected to the same WIFI as the Head Unit

-Install Terminal Emulator in Head Unit (https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...roidterm&hl=es)

-Open Terminal Emulator and write following commands:
#setprop service.adb.tcp.port 5555
#ifconfig wlan0
This last command will show you the hu ip, remember it

-Enable USB debugging in developer options in HU, if its enabled, disable and enable again.

-Now in the pc you need ADB, and run following commands
#adb connect 1.2.3.4:5555 (substitute 1.2.3.4 by the ip you found out earlier in terminal)
#adb shell
#su
#mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/platform/emmc/by-name/system /system
#mv /system/app/EventCenter.apk /sdcard/

Now in the HU, with a file explorer go to /sdcard and install EventCenter.apk, like you would do with a normal app

Now the task killer is disabled.

If any doubt with the above steps, you can check here https://google.com

Is there a solution for iOS (without jailbreak)?

Dont have ios and frankly not a fan of all i-crap but cant imagine it being difficult.
It is apple however...
There are more apps that do this but for now it works correctly if I set it up and leave it alone.
Not much battery impact as far as I can tell as well

Mine was delivered today.

On the back I see a little hole. Is this the internal mic?

Installed the unit temporary today and so far it seems to work fine. Except that it suffer from bad sound quality through the aux connection. It seems to have the same bad sound issue as reported by some people using other brand of android units. I was hoping that issue had been solved with this newer ugode unit, anyone else having this problem?

my car is a f31 2014-02, h/k sound, separate combox in the rear.

I will see if I can get sound without using the aux cable. And if not there seems to be ways to improve the aux sound for example by using a Boomstick device (as recommended by someone in the avin thread).

what is the mic situation, is it possible to select songs with the in car mic/steering wheel controls or are you required to install a new mic/controls?

Did you have the green/black cable to transfer over? If you did, I too had bad sound until I turned the AUX volume down to around 15.

possibly considering this for my car(f01). can I ask does the I drive control work in the actual android apps and if you have any experience whats the Spotify app like on this. I was hoping I would be able to use it from the idrive as this is a cheaper option than retrofitting connected drive to my car

Yes, and my aux volume is set to max. I will test lower volume. Thanks for the info.

I, too am curious about the app functionality here. Extremely curious about Spotify/Waze integration. Am I able to skip songs with my iDrive controls while using Waze? Will it reflect my song choice in Waze like it normally would on Android? If I can control Spotify with my iDrive controller while in the Android menu this is an instant buy for me.

Not sure that it matters, but I plan to use a mobile network hotspot for WiFi, but connect to the head unit via bluetooth.

As close to the exterior as possible so probably underneath the front window.
I havent installed the unit yet and I am going to use my factory DAB antenna and make a splitter for that signal.
just as I am doing for the GPS signal but the cables are not available for DAB and need to make my own

I've no problem with the sound quality. It feel the same as original NBT unit. Do you have optical cable (green one) and did you move it to the new plug?

Mine is F30 2016 HU_ENTRYNAV NBT

I place it outside the car, at the corner of the windscreen. It can fix GPS two to three time faster than place it inside the car
