Turning in my 2015 335xi sedan =( sad day!!!

Hey guys turning in my 2015 335x drive sedan today. Such a beautiful fun and great sounding car. Won't miss the mpg though.

While I save for my next beast I'm looking to buy a commuter around $5k or less that would be fun and reliable.

Anybody have any insight or ideas on what I should purchase??? I'm open to anything just looking for reliability and a little bit of fun still.

5k budget|

Thanks

5k budget is kinda tight for a fun car, but maybe a lexus is300? Fun, RWD, and reliable. They're a bit old at this point so I'm not sure how they're holding up but I had one about 10 years ago. It was a blast

Curious what you end up with for 5k

I think fun and reliable for under 5k are pretty much mutually exclusive given that youre going to be stepping out of a 2015 335. If it was my money, i'd focus on reliable and check out Civics / Accords. I wouldn't touch anything American or German with a 10 foot pole.

*edit* I'm in the same boat as you. 2014 435i is going back in October and there is literally nothing in the entire BMW line up that I want to replace it with. After driving an F-Series for 4 years, I'm done with the platform and want something new. Maybe the new 3/4 series will provide some freshness.

Yes for sure.

I have a 2004 330 in mind with 120k miles on it lol. I heard they were reliable. If not looking t a vw gti or a Scion tC. So far that's where I'm at.

& I feel you 100 percent nothing in the line up makes me say yes can't wait to get that.

Hoping for the new 4 to look like that 8 series and I'll get that for sure

But right now confused

If you don't need space, maybe look into an NA or NB (first or second generation) MX-5 Miata.

Older '97 - '03 Boxster? You can pick those up for $5K-8K depending on condition/miles.

We had a 2002 325i, I think it went close to 200k miles. Lots of oil leaks, window regulators, but I think it was fairly reliable with regular maintenance. I would buy a similar car in good condition and make sure I have a repair budget. The feel of the steering and chassis is not even close in the F30.

If you really want reliable at that price point you're only looking at Japanese - Honda, Toyota, etc.

I remember the Nissan Maxima as a fun car. The 02-03 came with nice amneties, powerful engine, and a 6 speed manual. Should be below 5k now.
