One of the cheapest brands too, when comparing to other brands of comparable component spec.

That's an issue for me..
The same money some of the e-bikes ask will get you a VERY special, top of the line leg powered machine, with all the custom bits you could ever desire. It will hold value better I suspect.

But if you need or want a motor then that's the price you need to justify to yourself.

I'll be doing it when my legs/knees/lungs or hips cant pedal me anymore, but until then I'm firmly in the human powered camp.

Those are my current thoughts too - but for now, I adore being out on this

This for me, but I'm sure they're getting some people places they otherwise might not get to.

There's an owd fella round my way, defiantly maintains that for the cost of a new car, you can get a well bred horse, with all the bells and whistles on it (literally), and a cart made from camphor wood, brass and leather everywhere . Thing of beauty for sure, takes him a long time to get anywhere though. No fun on the EVO triangle.

It's... Wait for it.... £6,699.99 !
Ohh no wait, just found it with a better spec.... £9,999.99 !

Granted it's a Santa, but just wowsa.
Personally, I'd prefer to save 4-5k and build the ultimate in titanium or exotic carbon, with an ultralight finishing kit and wireless groupset.

I'd much rather be blowing out my ass on a beautiful custom build, than have it easy on the SC.
No ta, until my legs/lungs/hips tell me I have to.

I feel the same , I am late 50’s and prefer manual pedal power to electric assisted until forced into it by old age!

I bought this carbon fibre MTB 5 years ago and have cycled nearly 4000 miles since. I’ve done 105 miles this week taking advantage of the lockdown. I have spent £750 replacing the chain set and servicing shocks, dropper post etc and it still rides well.

Is the anti-grav kit std. or an option?

It’s nearly 10kg heavier than my Bronson CC... That’s rather a lot to compromise agility, feel & speed on the downhill.

It seems to be a similar situation weight-wise with Cube & Scott in relation to their non-powered stablemates.

That's why I think the Levo SL might be the sweet spot. Under 5kg'd heavier than a normal leg powered beast and handles like one. Not as much power as a full blown e-mtb though so I should still get decent workout.

£3k bike and 6 months of PT for £600 would sort most needs....

It's only a matter of time before you're changing your bike as often as your cars. Take a look at this beauty and start saving your pennies. I think these light ebikes will be the future.

Haha, 8k euro's is quite steep but I'm a roadie really and 17.6kg would destroy hill climbing.

60Nm is pretty handy though, how long do eBikes provide their output for?

I am mulling over the entry Madone, been getting some nice speed up n my little Boris Bike.

I think it all depends on how much you want it to assist you and your route's vertical climb. Looking at the road bike equivalent (motor and battery) of the Levo SL MTB that's been tempting me, you can get a range of 195km out of it (although that might be like car manufacturers MPG figures). https://www.specialized.com/gb/en/turbo-creo-sl

195km ....That must be just to keep the display running surely

Impressive though, just made EV cars obsolete

I think the long range on the road ebikes comes from the fact that the motors on ebikes cut out around 16mph (UK law I think) , so on the flat a normal rider will no doubt be peddling above that speed, which will mean you are purely on leg power, and the motor will only kick in when going up hill and your speeds drops below 16mph.

You can "chip" them to remove the speed limit, I have some e-mtb friends whose bikes will do 30mph on the flat, whereas when the motor cuts out on mine, its really hard to overcome the drag of the tyres and unpowered motor(progress has been made since I bought mine to decouple the motor when it cuts out so you are not turning it with your legs) to crack 17mph, and you find yourself cruising at 16 as it takes 3 times the effort to do 17mph!

The Fazua motor on my Boardman provides 70Nm, I can do 4-5 10 mile return trips that includes about 400ft of climbing. My average speed is around 15-16mph on the Boardman at present, but this is going up as my fitness gets better.

The Fazua has a 250Wh pack, the Specialized road bike will be more efficient as its a road bike rather than hybrid and weights 12kg versus 16kg, so 120 miles from a 408Wh pack doesn't seem unreasonable.

This was a test GCN did a few years ago of a first gen Giant Road ebike, and over 100 miles with 3000 meter+ of climbing the eBike still had 15% SOC.

Thanks, yes the GCN guys are always quite entertaining. Impressive range indeed TBF very very good.

One for the future for me then, cycling for fitness still.

I'm managing to achieve nearly the same average speed on the Boardman eBike as I can achieve on my carbon road bike. Which is some going since the eBike is 16kg versus 8kg of the road bike, and the eBIke is finished with Halfords finishing kit with a frame that flexes like mad versus the Trek running Dura Ace wheels/105-Ultegra drivetrian and a rock solid frame.

I want a good spec eRoad bike to see just how fast I can go + increase my fitness. We all love speed, been able to shoot up a 4-5% climb at 15mph like a pro would be a fab feeling, or if you chip the motor sustaining 25mph+ on the flat.......Whats not to like.

Hmm I'm listening now. At my best I could maintain 25-27mph on the flat with 50mm aero rims but otherwise a base Domane.

My heart sank in their video when they said limited to 27lm/h I was starting to image a steady boosted 35mpg WTF speed Strava slayer
