I'm planning on installing the M Performance Front Lip/Splitter here in the near future. I have had the part sitting around for a while. Just waiting to pull the trigger on the installation.
With the pothole-ridden and crumbling roads we have here in Indiana (namely downtown Indianapolis; the roads in the suburbs and in rural areas are actually halfway decent), it will be a challenge to keep the lip intact. If my car was lowered any further after installing the lip (I currently have the M Sport suspension), I imagine that the lip would last no longer than 45 minutes. I would need a pit crew following me around ready to pop on a new lip/splitter piece.

I am planing on getting it soon... but still need to find out who can do the install for me. Should I ask my dealer to do it?

I'm also curious if anyone lowered on h&r sport or super sport with this front lip. I have the same problem with speed bumps in my complex I live in so I'm very hesitant to drop it, but that damn wheel gap gets to me everytime I look at my car...

If you're going to buy it from the dealer I would just ask them to do it, I'm not sure if they will charge you for that or not. If youre going to buy it online, then probably just a trustworthy, reputable body shop you know of. OR you could do it yourself, but other than grilles I dont think I can do anything else really haha

Im worried about the same thing. I'll be lowering my x-drive with the H&R's but I live in Wisconsin. Will I be a snow plow with the splitter?

The price is better at the online shop instead of dealer's MSRP price.. but I don't know any body shops who does it in the Bay Area.

yeah that's the problem=/ its cheaper buying it online, but there's the waiting time for shipping, and finding a body shop as opposed to the dealership I'm sure they'll do it for you and it's in stock. I'm sure you can find one, ask around!

As for the betalink? You don't need that stuff. I've never used betalink or double sided tape on any front lip, and I've had an Arkym on my E9X M3's and a Vorsteiner lip on my X5. The factory bolts are more than sufficient. Tape and/or betalink just makes it a pain in the ass to remove.

Does anyone have pics or can photoshop different color schemes for the front splitter on an EB2?...Whole splitter painted to match, just the sides painted, just the bottom lip painted and any other creative color schemes...
I'm also debating on throwing my lip on but I recently just scored a parking spot in the building I live in and there's a drainage ditch thats about a foot wide, 3 inches deep and runs across the entire garage doorway of the lot; on top of that...its at a decline up until you reach the ditch and then straightens out (like this \ ____); on top of THAT...the doorway is only wide enough for one car so there's no way to go in at any angle (not sure if that would help anyway). Any suggestions?? |
