Raccoon down!
The other night while driving home a raccoon couple decided to try and cross the road. Lucky or not only one survived. In the process one of them dumb son of a bitches took out my fog light. Feel pretty fortunate that's all the damage I might have. Now my question is do I need to order new lower mesh grills? Or can I salvage what I got? Do you need to take front bumper off to repair? Wife thought I did it so I could buy something for the car. Not sure she understands that is not an upgrade to replace something that I already liked.

It looks ok… check if all the tabs are ok, if they are you can probably reuse the grill.
You might be able to repair it without taking off the bumper, but taking it off makes it easier and isn’t much work nor hard. The foglight on the other hand looks as if the mounts are broken and prob. needs replacing. |

At the present moment the bumper is off and trying do minor repair to the fog light bracket. Other than missing some plastic push pins all is good.

I hit a raccoon on the highway at 60mph... that caused $5k in damage and I used my insurance to fix my car. Really pissed me off.
It just looked like a beat up bumper cover and some cracked plastic but the impact dented the AC condenser, intercooler and cracked some plastic vents.

I hit a racoon with my Jetta hybrid and did a lot more damage than that.
Bumper cover, fog light, transmission oil cooler, front grille and underbelly pan. $3500 damage |

$2 and 2 hours of time. I was able to remove the bumper and repair all the damage with what was on the car. The grill insert wasn't damaged so it just needed to be pushed back into place. The fog light housing was busted in several places. So with willingness to not spend any money on new parts I did the superglue and baking soda fix. Overall it looks good and it has held up. If it breaks apart I will replace with new parts.
