Are the interior door handles replaceable?

Hoping this is in the right forum... idk what the heck the previous owner did, but the driver's interior door handle is torn UP! I've noticed it before, but it didn't start bugging me until the weather started warming up and the plastic starts to get sticky when I pull the door closed.

Is this replaceable? I'm referring to the actual handle, not the wood trim cover. I'm sure it's not easy, just curious.

Is it a separate part from the rest of the interior door panel?

I just did a quick search on YouTube and it seems to be a pretty common issue, so that's sort of a relief for me. Glad I'm not the only one this has happened to, and definitely not the worst!

Just gotta take off the trim piece, remove the torx screws, remove the door panel, replace the handle, then, reverse order.

On my E90, I had to replace the passenger door handle. My wife uses hand cream and it is known to make the door handle plastic sticky.

On eBay you can get after-market versions without the soft-touch. The upside being that they would never again turn sticky...

Yeah I think that's what I'm gonna do. I found a set of 2 (left and right) on Amazon for like ~$80, where a single OEM handle is ~$70.

Hi yes it is replaceable, however it is a hell of a DIY job if you are planning to do it yourself, much easier it is to wrap the door handles with leather which is easy DIY.

Here is the installation video:

And here is how it would look like:

These are available here (also for other BMW models): https://www.leathersteering.com

Hope it will help people who are facing the same problem as I had.

I doubt most North American owners want to order from a UK site. If they order from overseas it would likely be on AliExpress, which has many options.

Looks like a good alternative to replacing an expensive grab handle with wood trim.

You can also remove it and get it recoated too. Many automotive upholsterer could refinish that surface relatively cheap.

If you want to avoid a labor intensive repair, I found a great solution that takes only seconds to fix. These are plastic covers that go over the inside (sticky) part of the handle. Very good quality, and no tools needed. Just snap it into place. Took me less than 1 minute to place these over the sticky part of the handles on my F30 2013 328xi.
$30 for the pair on Amazon:

I have question I have a 4 series gran coupe where the interior aluminium handle trim covers and centre console have become all worn. I have been searching salvage yards and the one near me only has those covers off a 3 series I’ve seen photos and they look the same. I’m just wondering are those door handle trim covers on a 3 series the same as those on a 4 series

Look them up on realoem.com
It shows all the models that a part was used in.

Had the same issue - ordered non-oem from Amazon, worked great. This video was really helpful:

I know I’m reviving an old post, but if anyone decides to go this route, they also have an amazon listing for those in the US.

Door Handle Cover Set 3 Series & 4 Series F30/ F31/ M3/ F32/ F33/ M4 (Left & Right, Black M Sport) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NPVBTLB...P0T64GNR?psc=1

Though in my opinion this looks more tedious and time consuming than going the door trim route if you want good results.

I do like the way this one looks tho! I couldn’t find any leather-like replacements that weren’t OEM (I want to avoid OEM so this doesn’t happen again), but also I’m not a fan of replacing the piece for a plastic piece, but then again I DO want to be able to use my door handle…

Baby wipes are great at cleaning these out. Mine are tan colour and get dirty quickly, a good rub with babywipes and they look like new
