They are going to get cheaper. Have patience and by the end of the year they will be around the £600 a month mark.

How do you work that one out?
You can't even get into a m340i right now for that money.

Ok bare bones just about, but even the tightest serial lease runners would surely want a couple of those lovely over priced options which sees the price rise quickly towards 660-700 on piss all Miles.

I can't get over all these people (mainly on YT) who are buying them full whack with little BMW/dealer discounts - paying 85/90k for a M3/4 is bonkers!

Wait a year and you'll get 15-20k off!

Yes was in dealers today, had M3, M4 high specs and M5 decent spec.
M3 and M4 were more per month than the M5 - £1200 can’t remember what deposit was...

Mines in for MOT next week and he’s seeing if I can get a demo for day.

They will be on decent deals to help publicise them I’m sure .....
There was a lot of hate for the grills etc. Best way for BMW and dealers is to get cars out there , physically and virtually and we will get used to them.

I even admit that in the flesh they don’t look as bad as in pics, especially in darker colours.

That is pricey I have just signed on the line for one with tech pack for 450 a month on a 6 up front. 8k miles a year...

There's actually really very little to option this time. CF bucket seats maybe but all the popular options last time are standard. It's a good model idea to be fair.

They probably are getting them on a discount and the extra views they get from having one now will make up for it - you can't exactly be a great YT reviewer if you wait a year to get a car for a long-term drive. Loss-leader for BMW.

I would imagine BMW offer influencers that qualify cheap short term leases hence they do videos saying "guess what I just bought, today I pick up my brand new M3!" closely followed by "why I sold my M3" (or in reality just gave it back at the end of the 6-12 month lease)

There's no doubt cars are now plenty more expensive than they used to be, much less in 'deals' to shift metal but if you look across most big manufacturers you are looking at similar 'ridiculous' numbers for C63/ Alfa Quads etc. 1 month down, 2 year figures are into £1,000+. A chunky deposit, 3/4 years, limited miles and you can find yourself with monthlies at £7 and 800's.
Unfortunately the market has shifted, and while I expect the numbers will get better than this eventually, I don't think we'll ever see them at 1 month in and £6/700's...

I am just glad I got an S4 at £399, 3+23, 11k p/a 'back in the day'! haha

Sounds about right.

I expect that in order to qualify for the cheap lease you have to:

1. Have a sufficient number of followers
2. Scream like a little girl when you floor it...

The value of these influencer 'reviews' isn't particularly high.

They can make loads of money though, one influencer who lived near me (not any longer!) had a limited company business that was showing a cash deposits balance of £1.3m recently....!!

Have to say that I do not share your optimism on that front... Unless you are putting down some big initial payment, you would struggle to get an M340 for 600/m unless you literally went for base specification... let alone an M3 (and, really, sticking in a big initial payment to get a monthly of 600 is not getting the car for 600/m)... and it has been that way for a few years now...

I agree with you in that the market seems to have shifted and that we may not see the sorts of deals we used to see just a few years ago for a long time yet... if ever... I suspect that the combination of the business impacts of Covid and changes to the ways in which our future cars will be powered/used will see a different approach to sales...

Just my opinion, of course...

Remember as well that the EU fleet average co2 comes into play in terms of how many they can sell and still achieve an average rate to avoid a big fine, Harry M did a piece on it a while ago, stating that they would have to pulse the volume to take account of that target.

So you could see lower volumes/less discounts as they move these cars to being true "halo" cars, I was a bit frustrated at first as the game had moved beyond my reach but it has done me a favour forcing me to choose a cheaper option that now I'm used to it I enjoy.

On the plus side it should mean that residuals will firm up in the longer term. In some cases it feels like they have already.
