Good read on a Tesla long journey in the US

Some decent thoughts and how you can use the Tesla APIs for your own apps. |

^Shows how massive the states is! 150 miles of driving in any direction gets me to 80% of England, it'll barely get you to the next nearest city over there!
As much as we moan about range of EVs here, people who buy into EVs in the US are really the ones who actually need 300-400 miles of non stop range. |

Wonder what their density/distribution for superchargers is though, it's got to be property good given how big the place is. |

I can tell you we took a family trip for spring break this year in our big family van for more than a week with 5 people, a dog and clothes for freezing temps to 80's and we could not yet have done this in an EV. We did a 2800 mile road trip to west Texas, the Texas pan handle and through New Mexico and there were parts of the drive where I was worried with our 450+ mile range van. Thus I stopped at some places to fill up to make sure we were set especially during the evenings and when we knew bad weather (rain and snow) was coming. EVs are certainly one of the waves of the future and it will interesting to watch it continue to develop. Cheers, |
