what type of fluid to use for transmission and differential?
I was going to change the transmission fluid and differential but not sure what to use. can someone let me know what is recommended for F30 328i besides the manufacturer one?
There are Liqui Moly ATF Top Tec 1800 that sell as a kit for F30. Is that a good fluid to use for F30 8-speed auto? what about rear differential Fluid? what is the recommendation or what should be the one to use? How many liters do I need and what are the expected liters to put back? |

I think I'm going to stick with ZF® - LifeGuardFluid 8 as it is the same as OEM. not sure if Liqui Molly is compatible with OEM fluid as the fluid can't completely drain off 100% the transmission.
I'm still having a hard time finding the right differential fluid for the axle. |

For my 340i xDrive, the front diff takes G2 Hypoid Axle Oil...the rear G1. I show just half a liter for the front diff...wondering if that's right--realoem didn't show a quantity needed. Have you found a listing of fluid capacities?

I emailed Red Line and they suggested that I use Red Line Gear Oil 75w85 for my 2016 and 75W90 for my 2013.
I'm gonna stick with Red Line Gear Oil 75w90 for both to make my life simple Quote:

If you've done this, does 500ml seem right for the front diff...want to make sure I have enough before I start. I've gotten one confirmation, but I've learned to trust no one, however trustworthy seeming!

My car is not xdrive. I have rear-wheel drive only so I can't help you much.

Anyway, I liked your TV show back in the day! I'm pretty sure the front diff just takes 500 ml. If I'm short on it, I'll figure it out. F'n bmw...no drains for fluids. tsk tsk

The FCP Euro Kit I purchased comes with 7L but you'll only use about 5L. I have already done my spark plugs, oil change, cabin filter, engine filter, brake fluid and now will perform the transmission flush with filter replacement. I have saved well over $1000 in service costs. I live in FL and it has been cold, as soon as it warms up I will tackle the tranny flush. Good luck.
