Anyone using BMW of Sarasota for service?
Searched but no go in previous posts.
I have a couple of small items id like to try and get done under warranty, but I am tuned with VRSF down pipe. The service items are rotting/crumbling windshield cowl ( seems like a common issue) and SOS call malfunction (back up battery for telecom unit). I have yet to contact dealership as I have only owned the car 3 months, having purchased from private seller. Now after reading some recent posts here where cars are automatically flagged and even work seeming unrelated to drivetrain and tune/mods are denied, im sweating taking to the dealer for work. So anyone here with recent experience with tuned car, good to bad, with BMW of Sarasota, or have experience with more tuner friendly dealer in the Tampa or surrounding area please let me know TLDR version(Of possible interest when buying form private seller) When I was negotiating the deal I knew about the existing tune, but because he had had the car only 3 months and only put 3k miles on the mods I wasnt too worried (car is minty and I had PPI) and I assumed factory warranty was ending within days anyway. Turns out ( I did vin check and saw the service history and warranty info) he had CPO extended warranty when he bought from Tampa dealer, but was told the warranty would not be transferable to buyer,(this is true if it is from or to 3rd party dealer) so he didn't advertise that as plus on listing. (warranty info showed extended from Aug 15 2020 to Aug 15 2121) I researched that scenario and found that extended CPO is transferable from private seller to private buyer. There are forms and a 200$ fee to get it done which we did. |

These are both well known problems, I doubt you will have any issues. These dealers are not looking for reasons to not get BMW to pay them for work.
You can check mybmwgarage for warranty info, it is definitive. |

Good info on mybmwgarage ,didn’t know about that, but then again this is the first BMW I’ve owned that is new enough to be under warranty. And yes I did see a bunch of folks reporting both those issues. DIY looks pretty simple on both, but why not get dealer to fix. I’ll check my garage first |

Thats actually something I would consider. I used to make that drive a lot and have friends in the area. Besides I haven't had an opportunity for decent road trip yet since getting the car in August. Thanks for the heads up!
