335 broken, once Again. Drivetrain Malfunction

So while driving on the Bruckner today I got a Drivetrain Malfunction alert and the car went into limp mode. I managed to get to the right shoulder and the engine shut off. Tried to turn it back on and it stuttered and then shut off. Towed it to my shop and my mechanic said a code came up for the high pressure fuel pump which i may have to replace. Since they were closing when I dropped it off, he told me he'd look more into the car on Monday..
2015 335i X 6mt with 66,xxx miles.
I've read a little about fuel pump issues with bmws and I'm wondering who else has had a similar experience with their F30?
Is it possible to be spark plugs, coil packs, or injectors? Charge pipe coupler maybe loosened?

if the car threw a code for the high-pressure fuel pump then it's likely your culprit. If you are under warranty it should be covered. If not you may want to consider upgrading to the XDI pump if you plan on power mods.

Lol little too expensive for my tastes. I don't plan on going bigger turbo so I'm not going to need that i need an upgraded fuel pump. Just some bolt ones and a bm3 flash and I'll be satisfied. Replaced it with this.
Also brought in my stock downpipe to put back on so i can pass emissions. My NY plates came and i need the sticker by the 25th.

Before you have your mechanic replace your HPFP ask him to ensure no fuel injector codes are present. I had the same HPFP code as a result of a #5 injector stuck open which was wetting out the plug so bad it wouldn't fire that cylinder and ended up smelling like raw gas out the tail pipe. Because it was stuck open the HPFP couldn't keep the rail pressure up and tripped the code. The HPFP code was a result of the failed injector. I ordered a replacement for $98 along and installed it myself. If you do this job yourself ensure you clean out the port in the head and replace the decoupling element that goes at the base of the new injector. You also need to write down the 3 digit injector offset to program the DME with the new value. I used ISTA to program it. I initially tried it with a Foxwell product that never worked.

What could have been a very expensive trip to the stealership ended up being a bit over $100. Hope this helps.

That looks like the LPFP, not the HPFP.

And what caused the malfunction?

To be quite honest im not sure what actually caused the LPFP to fail... I've only use premium gas since I bought the car in November...once it was replaced, the cars been running fine so I don't think it was a result of faulty fuel injectors or etc. like some others have been suggesting on the thread.

I've read some of the older generation BMWs have had recalls on fuel pumps so I figured it was one of those BMW problems.
