London Motor Show

Hi Guys,

Has anyone been to this before?

I'm wanting to go to a motor show this year as I've not been to any for quite a number of years.

Also what other motor shows happen in the country?

Thanks

Classic Car show at the NEC, not really my cup of tea but it was good for a look around.

It's a dwindling thing in the UK unfortunately. It's Paris or the Frankfurt ones in Europe that have the real manufacturer backing.

Went to this last year, it was shit. Small choice of manufactures and not better than going to showrooms to look at cars.

There was a stunt driving bit that was good but the I was disappointed by what was there.

The kids that were there liked it but then they don't frequent car showrooms like we do, so easier to impress

I was there last year too, echo all of this - don’t bother, a day of my life I won’t get back !

Try the Geneva Motorshow in March.
A short flight, not too expensive flights.
Exhibition halls adjoin the airport.
Easy to do there and back in a day.

+1 to this - not done it myself yet, although I hope to go this year. A friend has done it before and highly recommended it.

Been to the London Motor Show a couple of times (got free tickets both times). I wouldn't recommend it and I'd be even more disappointed if I had paid. In fact I enjoyed driving there and around London more than the show itself

Thanks guys, glad I asked!

I’ll look into the Geneva Motor Show, a couple of friends went a few years ago and said it was good, albeit expensive once there.

It’s not expensive to go in, you can check the entrance fee on line, but food
and drink is quite pricey.

I believe hotels can also be £££ if you need to stay overnight. Although as others have said, depending upon where you are in the UK, there & back in a day should be easy.

If that's the flight times it hardly seems worth it. Any delay on the way out, plus the time you need to check in for the flight back and you'll have an hour to look round the whole show if you're lucky.

I'd be doing a search for a 6am business flight and the last flight back to make it worthwhile.

The best I can find from the local airport is arriving at 2pm and leaving at 8pm, otherwise, I'm travelling considerably further and paying considerably more for my flight.

I went to the motor show at the NEC about 20 years ago on press day, it was a fantastic day.

Don't do London - utter rubbish.

Spend your hotel money on a place near a UK airport and take the 7am flight. Then come back 6ish.

A few of us did this and it worked really well. Food isn't that bad in the event tbh.

Personally, just my opinion, but I wouldn't bother.

A lunchtime flight is usually an aircrafts second flight of the day, a 1 hour delay gets you there for 3, and into the show for half 3 earliest. Delay at passport control, or getting off the plane, maybe even 4pm. Probably need to start thinking about leaving the show for 6.

A two hour delay on your outbound flight and you'd be lucky to get an hour in there. Not sure 1-4 hours would be worth all that hassle.

I've now decided from looking at flights, fly on Saturday and get into Geneva around 4pm, hotel for £70 and then a full day at the show with a flight back at 8pm.

That’s a good rate for a hotel, is that near the airport / exhibition centre or in central Geneva?

Im thinking of going mid-week.

It's behind the airport in France. I'm looking at flying out on the Saturday and having the whole day Sunday to wander about.

I'm planning to go over to Geneva on the 8th - 10th March. Already sorted flights will be sorting one of the airport hotels this week.

It's crazy the difference in price of hotels between Switzerland and France!
