Color matching reflectors with plastidip

So I've swapped out the Sportline front bumper for M Sport, side skirts are en route and will just need paint, but I couldn't justify the cost to replace the rear bumper with M Sport + paint right now.

That said, the rear Sportline bumper is pretty ugly stock, so I first wrapped the "diffuser" with gloss black vinyl and was pretty pleased how much sportier it looked for $10.

Excuse the really dirty pic...

The only part that stuck out was the rear reflectors...even after I smoked them, so I figured why not see how well white Plastidip + glossifier will match up with the alpine rear bumper and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised how well it matches!

So if you guys are looking for a low cost temporary way to color match reflectors or other pieces I recommend giving a $5 can of plastidip a try before hitting up the body shop!

I'm curious to see what they would look like dipped matte black.

Looks really good. I wrapped my front reflectors in a 3M wrap closest to mineral grey I could find. Not perfect but pretty satisfactory for $10.

Could you tell me about wrapping the diffuser? Where did you get the material and how was the process? Any previous experience?

Nice, I might redo this in a gloss white vinyl now that you mention it, this was a spur of the moment thing after seeing the white plastidip at Home Depot.

For the diffuser I bought a 5' by 1' piece of Vivvid Gloss black, but I'd recommend going with Avery Gloss black. It's a thinner film and easier to work with, I used it to black out my chrome trim and I much prefer it now after having used both multiple times. It was winter here though too so the coldness made things tough.

Hard to explain it, but use some knifeless tape and patience...I also had to go back over the edges with a nice sharp razor knife... Bryan_KiesMotorsports has a good video on it

Garage List
I got a can of #300 Alpine White and painted my rear reflectors. A few coats of clear afterwards.
