Hi friends, I am trying to disconnect -ve from battery in my BMW F34, but unable to locate battery.

Can anyone help on this, post pics of location or guide me to do it?

Can you specify where in trunk?

Left side panel of trunk have first aid kit and tailgate motor. That is all I can open. Do I need to remove some bolts/screws to get to battery?

Please help with pics if possible.

look at opposite side (right), try to pry this small trim cover in luggage compartment's floor on the right hand side, comes off quite easily, there can you see battery but to be able to get any closer to it, may be difficult...

I finally found it, out of curiosity. The small floor section behind the right wheel well pries off, and you can see the battery underneath.

Have the same question. Seen the same hole in the floor where you can see the battery underneath... but honestly, the only way I've seen possible to get to the battery is to remove the whole cover below the trunk (the space where you can accommodate the trunk lid trays)...

Still wondering why the hell they made it so inaccessible...

Wanted to disconnect the battery because I'm traveling away for a couple of weeks... looks like I'll need to call for help in case the battery drains out...

Unless it's a lot colder than you'll ever experience where you are the battery won't drain in two weeks. Two months, maybe.

I am glad I saw this. I had only just bought the car and got flagged down by a lady looking for a jump start. Imagine our surprise when I opened the bonnet and .....nothing.

Now go open your owner's manual.
It will show you where the connection points are under the hood to jump start your car, or to use your car to jump start someone else.

This. Always use the points under the hood. Don't even try to hook to the battery directly.

I read it two months before I bought the car. I also watched every video tutorial, most at least twice, so that when I took delivery I'd know how to use all of its features. Even then figuring out the idrive took some time, it's not exactly intuitive. I've always taken the Boy Scout motto seriously.

I gave up on my owners manual when I realized that at least 50% of it doesn't apply to my car, and there's no way to determine which 50% it is.

Use the iPhone one. Its based on your VIN, so everything it has in there applies to your car.

Billfitz I have a 2017 340 GT and can not find the battery. Can you post a picture of the battery location showing the panel that needs to be removed?

The floor directly behind the right rear wheel well pries up. You need to use three plastic trim removal wedges to spread pressure along its length. Once that's pulled you'll see the battery down below.

Sort of related questions, I heard somewhere that the cars computer tracks the lifecycle of the battery and adjusts the charging algorithm accordingly. Is that a real thing that actually makes a difference? Is there a manual reset for that through the dash or is that something that has to be done at the dealer?

It is real. You only have to be concerned if you get a new battery, at which point you have to register it in iDrive so that the car knows that it's new and doesn't over-charge it. Many OBD diagnostic and repair tools have the capability of registering a new battery, many battery retailers will do it for free. Dealerships however have been known to charge up to $150.
