B58 surging

What's up bimmers!
I'll try to make it short and to the point.

I have stock 2017 340i the there is a surging problem when slowing down in traffic then accelerating at low speeds and the throttle pedal is not linear and has a delay in response. Hesitations after cold start and going uphill are horrible.

I also noticed form time to time all this problems disappear and the car runs perfectly the throttle is linear and predictable and no surging but that happens once in awhile.

I scanned for fault codes and there is none
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I had a very minor stumble in my 340i when new, but only on a cold engine. Dealer put it on the computer and reprogrammed it (not sure exactly what was done) and it cured the problem. Talk to your dealer, it's not a DIY issue.

I talked to the dealer about the software update for the transmission and they told me there no such thing.

I went in for an oil change service for 20k km

They will replace:
Engine oil
Spark plugs
Air intake filter
AC filter
Front brake pads (as they the remaining life is 3mm)

All above was part of the 20k km service
They told me that the problem should be fixed after that especially after the spark plugs change.

Why would they do plugs at 20K km's? Way too soon.
I think the dealer is wrong, there is a software upgrade for the stumbling problem. Don't know if it is transmission or engine related.

I know right, but they told me that our local fuel is not the clean and they require spark plugs for 20k km service

If you could provide me with a bulletin for the reprogram to show it to the dealer, that would be great!

Try a different dealer. There are updates for these kind of issues. If you can demonstrate it to them then even better.

Something is up it the throttle reset works for 2 days.

Sorry, can't do that. My dealer told me about the fix, did it, and it worked.
All I can tell you.

Update..

After the dealer changed:
Engine oil
Spark plugs
Air intake filter
AC filter

On my way back home the the problem disappeared ( Which is normal for me after every oil change service, the car always runs great after oil change)

But at the evening I went for a test drive, the problem seemed be to growing back in)

I notice a slight sluggish delay after coming to a stop then accelerating in traffic. 0 to 15 km/h

I asked the dealer again to reprogram tranny before leaving the dealership and he told me there is no such thing and the spark plug should fix the problem.

I need a SIB or Bulletin of the software update to show it to the service dealer.

I'm really upset of this problem and there is only 5 months left till the warranty ends.

Is 20k km normal to replace break pads on f30? I have 45k miles and break pads are barely worn.

It depends on your driving style.
Bmw recommends changing pads when they reach 3-4mm of remaining life.

Why not insist the SA take an actual ride with you so you can demonstrate the actual problem?

and/or take 37psi advice and go to another dealer. it's like you're choosing to stay stuck in this situation and let the dealer you're working with yank you around.

How will your warranty end in 5 months on a 2017 model with 20k km on it?
