MPE vs MPPSK on 340i

I apologise if this question has been added already.
I was looking at having MPPSK installed but it's too pricey. What I'm interested more in is the exhaust.
I found this
https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=03_4091

I noticed that it doesn't have a flap. Is it too loud all the time? Drone? Does it need coding since the flap actuator is gone?

Thanks 😊

I have the MPE and it sounds great. I had it paired with a 5" CG catted down-pipe and it sounded nice with no drone. I switched to a vrsf 4.5" catless yesterday and it sounds a little more aggressive with more pops and bangs. The MPE comes with a pigtail/resistor that plugs into the oem muffler valve harness and I'm assuming it's to prevent it from throwing a soft open circuit code and to prevent corrosion on the pins. I posted a few clips below so you get an idea of how it sounds. Cold starts are brutal the first 10 seconds mated with a down-pipe, but you get use to it.

From what I've read and heard on videos, the MPE is "MPPSK light" when it comes to sound. It is more or less the same symphony, but suppressed. No valves as you've noticed, single "setting".
MPPSK on the other hands offers 2 different worlds - a comfortable one and a brutal one.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for, comfortable that can turn brutal! I guess I should start saving for mppsk 🤔

When I simply had a MP tune and a Dinan midpipe - in eco and comfort it was rather quiet almost no pops etc like stock - put it into sport or sport plus and it would snap crackle and pop with brutal gunshots if provoked. I was very surprised by the flexibility and control I had over the exhaust with only those two mods (oh and my exhaust flap always in the open position)

MPPSK in Comfort is still noisier than stock in Comfort, but not to an extent that would be annoying. There is some droning around 2000rpm but otherwise very ok.

You go to sport and it becomes quite different, sometimes even ridiculous. But I would/could not be driving like that all the time. That would definitely be too much. And poor neighbours.

MPE should be the middle ground. But you'd be losing the versatility.

All the more reason to save for MPPSK! Thanks

Save your money on MPPSK and wait for BM3 or MHD tune.

...and void your warranty by doing so while you will still be stuck with the stock exhaust.

Can you show me where the OP stated he was worried about voiding his warranty? You're not wrong though.

Just noting the facts.
It will be his decision at the end.

Read through the long thread pegged at the top re. the MPPSK. Very useful info.

I’ve had the MPPSK over a year now, and it still brings a smile to my face every day I drive. Worth every penny.

I love my MPPSK but most times I'm worried about using it and getting pulled over for people thinking that a shoot out is going down.

People must think there are regular shoot outs in my business park, and always usually around 3.30-4pm

Are you still looking for an exhaust? I am looking for just the tune part of the MPPSK... I already have an AWE system.

apparently the decibel level of the mppsk is still well below the strict exhaust noise limits in places like california.

though the exhaust certainly draws attention.

it was not my loud exhaust that got me pulled over twice in ‘18 but the aggressive acceleration ... that unluckily for me happened next to cops in both instances. (both in my blind spots). i tend to look carefully now for the police before digging into the throttle.

also: always get a lawyer.
