Lane Change Warning Failure

Hi guys,

2017 440i Coupe here, it came equipped with the blind spot indicators (triangles on mirror) and it has been working fine up until a few weeks ago. It will be on and working then I will get a message saying "Lane Change Warning Failure" and turns itself off. I am able to turn it back on but it will randomly turn off again. This keeps happening. Will be checking codes tomorrow but wondered if anyone has experienced this.

Thanks!

Never had that issue. I think they use the mirror cameras, are they clean?

Lane departure uses the triangle shaped camera in the windshield.

Lane departure, yes, but he's talking about lane change (IE blind spot monitors)

Ah, I see that now. In that case it uses radar sensors behind the rear bumper, under the taillights.

I recently changed my rear lights to LCI ones, do you think this could have anything to do with it

Did you code the car to have the LCI lights?

Another equipment to break and cry about....I don't have this feature...just for that reason. Move that head and look side to side when switching lane.

So many feature it gets complicated especially when everything is connected to the computer and iDrive. Warning sign pop up and even CEL comes out.

I wish when they break they just break, there no other consequences and you can just leave it as is.

You could say that about almost anything that operates. Including whatever device you used to type this.

Correct 🤣

That is why I try to avoid option I don't want and options that's just going to break and the only fix is going to cost you $1000 or more. Also diagnosing this is not easy as it's part of a broader system.

Just my opinion.

It is getting hard to look for bare bone option car nowadays

No, there are two sonar sensors behind the rear bumper that monitor your blind spots. One or both of these sensors may be acting up.
