Battery Dead 2015 428xi cabriolet

Hi I have a 2015 BMW 428xi cabriolet stored in the garage for winters , the battery was never chnaged and I assumed because being in storage the battery died , the battery does not pick up any charge in spite of multiple boost .
I got a replacement battery but unable to open the trunk because of the trunk guard in place through the backseat .

I’m not sure what to do with the car as the mechanic want it to be towed to the dealership but since it’s not in neutral it’s even more difficult as the car has to be dragged .
I assume it’s a battery replacement issue as everything was working fine until October 2021 except notification of. Battery getting low .
please advise . I am based out of edmonton alberta .

Open the front door, open the hood, connect a charger or battery to the under hood charging posts. Open the trunk. In the future never let the car sit in winter for more than a few days without using a battery maintainer.

A trickle charger isn't going to do the job with a totally dead battery. Assuming your battery is 90aH and your charger is 1 amp best case it will take 90 hours to fully charge the battery. Are you measuring any voltage on the charging posts?

Can’t you set your charger to 10 amp and open the trunk?
Or “starting” level?

To charge a dead battery you need at least an 8 amp charger. Maintainer/trickle chargers are only good to keep a battery from losing charge when the car sits for an extended period or for light duty charging when the car isn't driven enough to charge itself.
