420 2015 NBT - Apple Car Play

Hi!

I have a 2015 BMW 420D M Sport Plus

It seems i have an NBT Dead Unit and not the NBT Evo..

How can i get Apple Car Play? I am happy to use it via USB and not use Wireless if i have to.

I dont really want to replace the head unit and spends £500 ish

Any ideas ??

I also have the same question. But after some search on this forum I’ve foun out that flashing to ID6 will make the system to be very slow because the actual head unit for ID6 has faster hardware. Is this still correct?
If so then are there any other options to get Apple CarPlay to work with ID4?

Yeah it is an ID4

Will flashing it cause poor performance?

The flashing will not poor the performance or make the system slower, but there can happen some reboots if the Navigation is used or a route will be calculated.

Just get an MMI box from Bimmertech or Andream. Same hardware but Andream is cheaper, but you don't get the dedicated support you would from BT.

The old NBT cannot be flashed to get CarPlay.
For CarPlay you need minimum NBTEvo.

Look at your navigation maps.
If you have „Road Map ... Next“ you have an NBT.
If you have „Road Map ... Evo“ you have an NBT Evo.
NBT Evo was introduced in 07/2015 for the F3x series.

Mine is NEXT

Missed out by a few months i guess!
My car looks lovely though in Estorill blue, and MSport Plus .. so i am happy with all that

I have been quoted £550 for Apple Wireless car play to be installed in my car
or £650 for a new Android screen, which does the works
It is supposed to be like a new BMW SCreen and has all the features required

I found the same thing out when I bought mine - thought as it was registered 09-2015 that it would be Evo, but then realised it was built 06-2015 so didn't

Have you got the F30 or the F31? I do love the BMW 'mid blues' - and love the Estoril II on the M-Sports, and the Avus Blue on my old M5.
