Exclamation resonator or muffler delete...

I just purchased a 2020 440i, absolutely love it. Done a few cosmetic mods so far, but want the car to be a tad louder but want to target having more burbles and pops.. been doing a lot of research and it seems a resonator delete would do this instead of a muffler delete as a muffler delete would just have it be generally louder.

Need good feedback on both of these and what should I do? I won't be doing this myself I will for sure take this to a german focused shop. another thing... I DONT WANT TO VOID WARRANTY. I am also seeing that since muffler and resonator is behind the cats, it WON'T void. Thoughts on all this?

Thank you in advance!

This will definitely void warranty if you have car trouble that was deemed to have been caused your mod. I would suggest you just get the M Performance Exhaust and call it a day. Since it's a BMW part shouldn't void your warranty, and there won't be drone like you'd get with a resonator delete.

Muffler delete makes it louder overall. Resonator delete causes drone.

No on resonator delete
No on muffler delete

You got a new car... Get yourself to invest in a good axle back or cat back exhaust system. Only your muffler will be out of warranty.

I'm here to go against everyones word.

For starters - It'll only void your exhaust warranty, nothing else.

Res delete sounds great on B58 from what i've heard.

High Flow Mid-Pipe, just remove the section and you can put the resonator back on. Dinan has a nice one:

Lol if I get this I have to go with the Dinan exhaust to couple with it (:

M performance exhaust as in the M performance power and sound kit?

Having more exhaust note, and no drone at cruising speed was a important requirement for me, and I was extremely surprised that "deleting" two resonators was the solution.

My (B58) exhaust line is stock, with the exception of the Dinan mid-pipe, and I think the sound is just right, moreover seeing that the OE muffler is valved I can "control" the amount of sound it emits. - (eg. more pops & bangs on sport, sport+ vs. comfort). Not to mention the sound can also be variable depending on how you modulate the throttle.

What's also great about the Dinan piece, is that its very close to OE fit, and it's reverse compatible.

If after that mod, you don't find it loud enough you can add a muffler.

This is what I'm leaning towards since both resonators are going to be replaced with this anyways

Resinator delete *the long cigar shaped one* does sound great and does not cause drone on the b58.

I have a catless downpipe and long rez delete on an otherwise oem exhaust and it's quiet and civilized until you step on it.

The rez delete helps burbles if burbles are your thing

Just curious, what is resonator delete?

Got a 440i and looking to get more bubbles/louder exhaust. I thought MPPSK would've been the option but I see different suggestions now lol.

I have a 340i and I’m assuming its the same exhaust setup for both. There are two resonators in the middle of the car that lead to the muffler. I personally am doing a dual resonator delete and muffler delete in a couple days. So the shop I’m going to will cut out those resonators and replace it with 3 inch pipe. From what I saw and looked up on YouTube the drone isn’t terrible and it sounds way better and louder than stock.

I'm not entirely sure what drone is either lol.

As for the deletes, gonna go see a euro shop as soon as I start doing upgrades and ask about these options. Thanks man!

Definitely would recommend getting a dual resonator delete. I see many saying it’ll sound to drony in the cabin or start to be annoying on long drives yet it’s the complete opposite. I’m eco it sounds as quiet as stock, in sport it really brings the deep tone of the car out.
Cold start
