Alloy wheel corrosion result!

I took my car into Coopers today to try to get my badly corroded rear wheel replaced and thought I might as well try it on with a front wheel that has a tiny bit of corrosion just beginning to start, and also the centre caps which are also corroding, and to my surprise they agreed to replace both wheels and all the centre caps under warranty !!

First pic is rear wheel and next 2 pics are the front wheel, can you believe they agreed to replace the front one?!

Good result!

Interestingly, I got one of mine changed on my previous car with no argument whatsoever!

Good effort mate!

Afraid I have to trump you though, I got all 4 of my 405m's changed last year, 2 had even less corrosion than your front as well as as minor kerbing.

They get a lot of stick sometimes but some dealers do try to keep us happy.

Crikey they must have needed a magnifying glass to see the damage on yours then!!

Strangely the 2 cars I parked next to, current shape 4 series and X5, both had horrendous corrosion on all 4 wheels! They made my rear wheel look like nothing! I guess some people just don't know they can get them changed under warranty!

If under manufactures warranty its a simple claim for the wheels.

Yes I almost felt guilty!!

I know, a good friend with a new cayenne's wheels are terrible. He didn't have a clue they could be replaced. Guess not everyone has the attention to detail most on here do.

It is ridiculous though that we're spending upwards of £40k and wheels can't last a warranty.

What year is your car? Did you have wheel warranty or just the basic 4 yr warranty?

Car is 26 months old, just the standard 3 year warranty. Do you get 4 years in NA?

Thanks for the confirmation gentlemen! Yes, 4 yrs in Canada but we don't get brake coverage like they do in the USA.

Hey guys, I'm in the US and I've got 1k miles left on my manufacturer's warranty.

So if I go in and tell them there's some corrosion on my rims I guess there's a pretty good chance I can get them replaced? I'm keeping the car for a long while, so I don't want them to get worse.

The first picture is the worst, I guess I can try getting the rest replaced too because there is mild corrosion on them??

Lemme know! Thanks guys

They would certainly be replaced by UK dealers, so I don’t see why US dealers shouldn’t be the same!

When you say 1k left, do you mean US warranties are mileage limited?

Good result mate. I've heard others have a nightmare getting them swapped out under warranty

Yes I’m very happy, both wheels had numerous kerb rashes that I had done my DIY repairs on so will be good to get brand new ones instead.

Just need the other 2 wheels to corrode now!

So do you only get warranty for your alloys if your car is under manufacturers warranty ?

Yes, unless you’ve bought alloy wheel insurance.

Don’t bother getting them re diamond cut, the white worm will return very quickly! Just sand them down locally and re lacquer, or get them powder coated.

I put my 442's back on at the weekend and have noticed minor corrosion on 2 of my wheels and one of my centre caps so far. Do I need to quote anything to the dealer like a PUMA case number?

Going to Sycamore Peterborough for my oil service on Friday so will mention it.

Cheers

No need to quote anything just say they're corroding and you'd like them to see if they can be replaced
