Do retaining clips need to be replaced for new brake pads?

The realoem F30 brake page said:

The following recommendation applies
to vehicles more than 48 months old:
- Replace retaining spring

So do you guys replaced retaining springs/clips with new pads?

I tend to replace every time I replace the rotors, not every pad change. I also replace if the springs are "too easy" to put on. For standard brakes (1-piston, sliding caliper) I examine the Allen bolts the caliper slides on (guide bolt) and replace if there are any marks, rust or scratches. On fixed caliper brakes, I follow the same schedule for the springs and guide pins.
