BMW 330e B48H bootmod3 Beta Review

Good day all,

I would like to provide my feedback on bootmod3 tune for b48 hybrid.
I have been beta testing b48H stage 1 and currently no issues.
The power is very smooth and gradual.
The tune is simply excellent.
I have tested some of the best chiptunes and nothing like bootmod3.
The gains speak for themself 320hp and 436ft-lbs (51.73hp and 118.19ft-lbs gains over stock).
I have also tested chiptunes and no where close to the gains with bootmod3.
The most with chiptunes were 300hp 350ft-lbs.

See attached.

Dragy times included 13.19s quarter mile time (stock was 14s, chiptune was 13.65s).
Top speed on speedo was 251kph.

Excellent job from Halim@HCP proTUNING Freaks.
They are very supportive and response to queries in a timely manner.

Best tune I have tested.

Hopefully this helps those deciding on tune, I would highly recommend BM3 and for those who know me I only recommend the best.

It should also be noted that these gains are using RON 95 fuel which unfortunately is the highest RON available in my country.

I will be installing downpipe soon (ER catless downpipe) and provide results for stage 2.

Regards,
Shane

Great results! I'm on the same beta software on my 330E and I'm really happy too! I have a high flow downpipe as I was planning to go stage 2, but the car is already nuts on stage 1, so now I'm not even sure I dare move on to stage 2 when that becomes available.

You don't need to do that. PTF just released a dyno for their finalized B48 x20i tune (which is the same engine that is in the 330e), and they've tuned it to 250hp. In the 330e it's something similar, and then the rest of the power is from the electric engine.

There is a guy on another forum who has had is 330e tuned recently by his local tuner. He has a BMS intake fitted. The car went from 281bhp to 389 and 436 to 655nm torque. Those are serious numbers for a mapped 330e!

So this is engine/crank power and not wheels? The stock numbers are about 30hp higher than what we'd expect. So if we remove 30hp from the end result (359 instead of 389), that sounds feasible.

Bootmod3 stage 1 95(91) octane with no other modifications were measured to 327hp, so 350+ is to be expected at stage2 98(93) with intake/exhaust modifications.

Personally I'd expect the engine power to go from 184bhp to 250-260 with a stage 1 remap and nothing else added to the engine. Combine that to the 87bhp electric motor and the combined output should be 337-347bhp. I'd say 0-100kph should be down to 5-5.1.

Yep, I've already done 5.1 with mine, so a skilled driver should probably be able to do 5.0 or even 4.9. The best I could manage with the stock car was 6.3.

Note that you can't just combine the output. The stock setup is 184hp + 87hp = 271hp, while the real system output is 252hp.

Nice!
I'll wait until my warranty is up before I remap my car. Currently I've an exhaust flap that's not working. There is an error saying exhaust flap short to ground

Are you sure it's not working, or have you only seen the error code? Tried clearing it? May be just a glitch.

Anyway, sounds like a sign from the modding gods that you need to get an aftermarket or custom exhaust.

I'm 100% on it not working. Getting a "short to ground" on the diagnostics.
It's under warranty, so BMW will have to sort it. I'll be looking at a remap next april when the car comes out of warranty

Hi all,

Update - I installed ER catless downpipe - perfect fitment, excellent product and would highly recommend for those who want to go to stage 2.
See attached dyno sheets and also dragy results.
Results - 336whp, 442 ft-lbs (6th Gear - true 1:1 ratio) for stage 2 BM3 bmw 330e beta.

Regards,
Shane

Thanks for the update! What's your boost level on stage 2 with the downpipe / on the 336whp run?

20.1psi is target. Will eventually do Methanol injection.
I bought some 437m rims from an M3 so hopefully this gets me in the 12s bracket.

Hi all,

Update - newer BM3 OTS map and SnowPerformance Stage 2.5 kit installed.
See attached dyno sheet.
Results:
- 349whp, 436 ft-lbs (6th Gear - true 1:1 ratio) for stage 2 91 octane OTS BM3 bmw 330e
- 351whp, 441 ft-lbs (6th Gear - true 1:1 ratio) for stage 2 91 octane OTS with methanol injection BM3 bmw 330e.

Note I am not tuned with methanol, peak gains are minimal but there is about 10whp and 10ft-lbs gains at different rpm ranges.

PM if interested in BM3, I am an authorized BM3 dealer .

Regards,
Shane

Great info!
You got +80whp with just a 91oct tune (and cattless of course)!
Tell us about the car and how it works after the tune.
For example how is the throttle response (is it too responsive?) , how is the cattless dp (does it smell bad?) ,how about the torque (is it too much causing excessive wheel spin?)

Did you have to get the gearbox mapped for the extra power?

Hi,

No Gearbox map. Simple BM3 tune.
If I get TCU flash will be even more power.
However no one has that available as yet that I am aware of.

Shane
