Car Insurance

Guys, how much is everyone paying for their insurance, I'm getting quoted silly money…makes me feel like trying to get insured on my 1988 XR2 all over again…I'm 40 years old with zero points, accidents etc etc and god knows how many no claims, and the best I've found so far is nearly £800! Far too much!

I think A Plan has been used by people on here before and premiums seem to be halved from the major brands.

I'll be getting a quote from them come renewal - £600 ish with Esure for me, 30 with no points and 5+ years no claims.

It’s never as simple as comparing each other with insurance quotes as there are so many variables, but I was paying £380 with LV on my 330d. When I changed to the M4, the renewal came in at £945!
I got it with AXA for £488 which I thought was reasonable for what the car is.
I’m 44, live in Somerset and the car is garaged doing 8k a year.

Aviva were reasonable too.

You’ll get too many answers with too many variables for you to draw any sensible conclusions. Just do the comparisons and pick the one you feel is best value for your needs.

However, if it’s a simple , “what are you paying?” question, I have a 430dx GC (declared remap & M performance kit), and I’m paying £350 with Aviva.

Been with Aviva for a couple of years now. Pay £960 for the 340i f31 and Clubman Cooper S.

Not sure how it breaks down per car, but we’ve had one write off claim and one small claim (both under protected no claims) and they’ve always been really good and easy to deal with.

Add to that a Critical Illness claim with them a couple of years back which again they handled with no issues - I couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

If modified 100% shop around the modded insurers like Sky Insurance, A-Plan and Chris Knott. They were all miles cheaper for me on a modded car than the mainstream lot on a non-modded car. If non-modded many say BMW Insurance come in cheapest.
Chris Knott seemed to be aggressively price matching when I renewed in March and I paid less than £400 for a 330d mapped lowered with spacers and cosmetic changes alongside M Wheel and 10.25" screen (all fully covered if damaged, as long as it's not written off).

Too many variables really to answer your question.

Make sure you use all of the comparison sites and have a look at some of the articles on money saving expert.

Your quote seems high though so think you could get a better price

If you're not modified, BMW Insurance was by far the most competitive for me

Despite promising reduced premiums in return for reforms, reality is most will generally see increases come renewal. Don't forget insurers are institutional investors, they will have been hit hard by Covid, rents, stocks/shares etc will have lost value. One thing they aren't is charitable so will claw back money wherever and whenever they can.

Yup and come end of the year when the FCA fair pricing reforms kick in, the savvy motorist who shops around for the best price every year will get hammered in favour of those who don't in order to 'make it fairer' go figure. Overdraft fees all over again, slow clap...

My 2016 430d convertible is in insurance group 42 and my insurance last year with Direct Line cost £850 for a 56 yr old guy in London with business mileage and an SP50 [damn those pesky speed cameras].

I've just renewed the wife's car insurance on her 2017 Peugeot 3008 and the initial renewal was £600 and got it down to £400 even with my latest accident [pesky cyclist this time - he had no lights, dressed in black and it was dark and raining] by shopping around.

My M4, wifes 2 series convertible & daughters Merc A class. And she's only 23...
